I just tried again and it still doesn't work. I keep asking a mod for clarification. Can you help me figure this out?

The spectrum concept is not fully accepted. Many researchers believe that Asperger's syndrome does not belong on the spectrum.

Given his situation, he might not.

No, this is just what you inferred.

    So...

People like Futilitist are inept because I am a generic neurotypical who cannot recognize their true genius.

Should I kill myself for the betterment of humanity?

I prefer the term autism, since people are more likely to know what that is. I'm also an atheist.

I would certainly never suggest such a thing. That is a choice only you can make

Regardless of the reasons or excuses (Asperger/autism), I agree.

    Yes ...

    Or not.

A person may, in the course of pursuing critical thinking, also begin to seem awkward to people who don't.
As a critical thinker, one may begin to question things that most people take for granted; one may begin to look at things from new perspectives. Some people qualify such pursuits as psychopathology. For example, questioning societal taboos is likely to earn one the accusation of at least rudeness and impertinence, but possibly also of sociopathy.

Which is why it is so important, for the sake of one's own well-being and reputation, and also for the sake of the wellbeing of others, that any aspiring philosopher (formal or lay) becomes disciplined in their inquiries, limiting them to people and situations in which such inquiries are welcome and can be adequately addressed.

    Blah.

What you might do is make use of his perspective and see if it offers an interesting insight.
You know, this being a discussion forum and all that.

I don't think you have made a case for locking this thread. I think this is a pretty good thread.

Great, this thread has veered completely off-topic into Aspie apologetics. All praise mediocrity.

All the more reason to end this thread.

Thank you for that wynn. I really appreciate it. I agree that this is always the best approach.

Your personal opinion on this has been noted more than once. I think some of the others are enjoying the thread. Thank you again, though.

I'm pretty sure we will get back to the main topic of the thread when people feel like it, being that this is a free and open discussion. Try being a little more playful with the concepts. Science discussions can be fun if you try it this way.

There is no science discussion where evidence is completely lacking. And yes, I am sure you enjoy the Aspie commiserating.

I have Asperger's. I have many Aspergean friends. I have worked with non Asperger's autistic children as well as Asperger's children. They present in radically different ways, and react very differently to social robots. Thus, I have many reasons, from personal experience and observation, to believe that Asperger's syndrome does not belong on the spectrum. I also have a theory, which some other researchers have suggested, as to the evolutionary origins of Asperger's syndrome. It is perhaps beyond the scope of this discussion, however. Go ahead and chalk it up as my opinion. We are all entitled to one.

And BTW, your avatar is totally cool! I need to look into animating mine. Maybe add some fire. What do you think?
