I'm dumb. Title of this thread is dumb.

I'm not actually dumb. I'm not from any Polynesian islands, I just like the word Polynesia, and I wasn't born in 1999, I just like having 99 as the end of my username.

I got into science in general as many people have in the last 20 years, I suppose. Carl Sagan + HD Science documentaries + being good at math + technology. I was mostly into astronomy and cosmology for awhile, and the philosophical questions that are brought up in physics. After awhile, I realized that what I truly like behind all of the science is the mathematics. But I still like science, too. I'm a senior in High School. Yep.

I can play the guitar and drums. Pretty damn well, too. Just so ya know.

    Oh and I'm a guy..

    alright bye.

    wtf is this? lol :bagpuss:

I'm not Polynesian, either. I live in a house with solar panels on the roof in Ontario and express my anglophilia by watching Dr. Who and impersonating a butler. (fyi: butlers don't run nearly so fast as pretty girls do). I played Carl Sagan as an instrument and discovered the secret of happiness.

Very much the equivalent of posting a picture of your penis on adultmatchmaker.com.

    All imagery, no substance.
    And far too easily doctored.

Tell you what... I just looked at your other 5 posts to see if you had anything.

Spectacularly disappointed. I'd imagine most of the girls on adultmatchmaker were too. Oh well. There is always the guitar.

When are you coming to Polynesian Hawaii? We have lots of non-Polynesian stuff to discuss.

Don't feel disappointed just yet... Think of it as school, you got the nice guys, the bully's, the teachers (mods) an a whole range of others. An any new guy has to sorta learn where he or she fits in. An make friends. An tough it out. I welcome you, an with no hard feelings, yet. As I said, its a good place over all. Get some tough skin ,ok....

lol okay. I'm actually not that upset. Many things I say are sarcastic. I suppose that was hard to notice in the original post. I've only been on a few forums, and they weren't like school. I just expected a more mature environment here, considering it is a science forum. But it's also the internet, so that is stupid of me to assume.

We have many sub forums. Some directed to be more "scientific", but there are some here interested in science. But over all there is a wide mixture of individuals from all around this "globe". An you will get a little bit of a feel for this place if you stick around long enough.

It's the Cheshire Cat from Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, commonly shortened to "Alice in Wonderland." The Cheshire Cat is a bit of a phantom, able to appear and disappear, leaving behind only his smile. This particular image is from Walt Disney's 1951 animated film version, the most famous and best-loved of dozens of stage, movie and TV adaptations. Many younger people don't even realize it's based on a book.

The sequel to the novel was Through the Looking-Glass. The Disney film and most other adaptations combine the two stories into one.

Although the books were written in a form suitable for children, they are rich in satirical references to British politics and culture of the time, most of which are inscrutable to Americans.

Alice Pleasance Liddell was a real girl, ten years old at the time. Carroll (real name Charles Lutwidge Dodgson; "Carroll" is a variant of "Charles" and "Lutwidge" is a variant of "Lewis") was a friend of the Liddell family and doted on their three daughters, especially Alice. Most of the characters in the story were based on real people, and Alice was the protagonist.

The concept of political satire presented as a children's story was not uncommon in those days. The Wizard of Oz is also in that category.
