I used to download youtube videos by letting the video buffer then going to the 'temporary internet files' folder and it would appear as a file 5-30 mb in size with not extension or a flv/mp4 extension. If it had no extension, I would simply rename it with a .flv and then copy-paste it where I wanted. This was on my 32 bit win 7 laptop. Now on my 64 bit win 7 with the 32 bit IE8 application, such files dont appear at all, neither do cookies, images etc. There are only txt files and icon files in it. What do I do to make it work?

Go get VideoDownloadHelper plugin for Firefox, and you'll have anything you want, and can do file conversion on the fly. Like save to an MP3 to the like.

Youtube was one of the first sites to request being added to VDH years back.

hardly anyone even tries the temp folder thing these days, and many FLV are set to 'no cache' anymore so they never show up there anyway.

Realplayer can be used for video capture. It works for IE, Firefox, and Chrome. It is an option in Realplayer, so it must be set.

I am using IE9 and i can see a crapload of stuff in my temporary internet files folder. Maybe the wrong place is being looked at? Try this location:

    C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
