That's silly. The Americans who are likely to support Romney are exactly the ones who would approve of his gay-bashing incident. They're the adult versions of the students he led in the attack, or at least the larger conformist audience he was playing to.

Do you even read your own links? That one is explicit that Romney got a boost from people who oppose gay marriage. It pretty directly undercuts your assertion, there. The fact of the matter is, again, that the kind of people who'd vote for Romney - the guy who led the attack on gay marriage in 2004, let's recall - are the same kind who'd approve of his violence towards gays. Bear in mind that Romney had lots of social support in carrying out his assault - from other students who directly participated, to the larger silent majority that he (rightly?) assumed would approve of his actions, to the school administrators who apparently did nothing in response.

There are still plenty of Americans who despise gay people, and the GOP openly caters to them. Why would you imagine that you could pretend any differently?

IIRC, you live in a conservative backwater.

But, there are safe states for both candidates. Everyone knows this. What's the relevance?

If you think anyone else here is living in the same kind of echo-chamber you are, you're likely mistaken.

You keep calling it gay bashing despite the fact that no one actually knew the guy was gay at the time. Also, not supporting gay marriage isn't the same thing as despising homosexuals.
How many conservative Republicans do you know?

Doesn't matter, he assaulted someone perceived as different and feminine, same damn thing.

What does that have to do with anything? They looked at his appearance, saw that it did not conform to the gender norms they were used to, and attacked him because of that. That's gay bashing totally regardless of what the victim's actual orientation may or may not be.

Actually, it is. What other reason is there to deny competent, loving adults the same rights and privileges as any other?

Regardless of that, however, the Romney gay-bashing incident came to light right around the same time that Obama announced his support for gay marriage, so any movements in the polls that you want to attribute are necessarily conflating those two things. We don't have polls from the period between those two announcements that we could use to suss out different components.

Dude, I have close relatives who are conservative Republicans who reside in Indiana. Heck, they're Mormon to boot.

The source of the Birther controversy may have been Obama's own literary agent:

Obama's birthplace was reportedly listed on Dyster & Goderich's website as Kenya up to 2007. Goderich now says:

Really? You think it's a good idea to follow Druge on reviving the Birther issue?

Do you guys not recall how this turned out the first time around?

Maybe take a second to think about whether your media activists are leading you in a useful direction, before you rush to jump on the bandwagon. Or not, it's not like I won't enjoy watching your man lose...

By the time I get to Arizona I would like to know what's wrong with people there

Aye. I just finished a post for the current Birther thread.

As Steve Benen asks, "What's the matter with Arizona?"

It's hardly a new question. But it would be nice to figure out the answer someday.

    Truth of the matter:

.... Bennett had not asked for Romney’s Michigan birth certificate because “This was simply in response to some constituents asking us to ask Hawaii,” he said....

Arizona bonehead management, likened to a Republican spokesperson at this site, threatens missing out on participating in a national historic landslide of reelecting for four more years, the greatest President of the last century.
Remember that no President has done what Obama has done already--ended a war (Iraq), taken out a world terrorist organization, from the head down (Bin Laden & Company), and toppled a country led by a world terrorist (Gaddafi/Libya).
The Republicans are on the wrong side of history and may not survive another election cycle. They are most definitely getting scared and desperate in their actions.

Romney's birth certificate can stay in Michigan, where his political candidacy will likely die.

I doubt that's the source. The source is racism and an inability to fight on the issues.

Birthers have known about that blurb for about as long as you have. Source? No. Happy coincidence? Yes.

What's hysterical about this is that birther nuts believe the birth certificate Obama showed was a forgery, but believe this little unofficial snippet to be the absolute, unadulterated truth.

Cherry-plucking for seeds again, eh? (buk-brawk-bk-bk).

Ever fathomed federal guidelines? I'm certain some costs of policing and inspecting proper establishments, monitoring vendor distances from schools, etc., is welcomed by the states.
Your big pooh about nothing (of course you are already aware of), but you didn't see the bear-trap you stepped in because of your "gum-pecking":

Your own link stated, "...One center pointed out that the school it was near was no longer in use and the order was withdrawn..."
School closure is a big Republican embarrassment of "no child left with a future" implemented and gutting Bush federal policies.
The wealthy want to prepare the next young generation to feudal servitude, and no education is needed for those slavery jobs.

    Next plucking

Well of course President Obama wants to leave gay marriage to the states. Has no choice in the matter. He took at oath to defend the Constitution. Marriage laws are relegated to the States, Article IV US Constitution, Drug regulation is a federal issue (Article I, US Constitution).

According to a recent poll, Obama's gay marriage statement will hurt him in Florida:
