    Don't eat.

    Water helps.

Eat tons of fruit to curb hunger. Its enough to fill your stomach so you won't feel as hungry, but since its mostly water it won't add to any of your weight.

Grapes are good, especially because you can snack on them while doing something else.

And too much fruit never killed anybody.

Okay, here is my few cents to the discussion.

Just eat plain healthy, high protein and fiber meals.

Do lanes and lanes Dolphins and Breastrokes, run for miles, skate and play tennis for hours. They help build good form ( at least it worked for me ).

Here is another one I heard from my friend, a wrestling nut.

Wear something you will wear if it was minus 40 for something Celsius and just run. Apparently it worked for him.

Johnson up-day down day diet strips pounds off you.
It does this by letting you eat a little more than you need on up days, then on down days you consume 20% of that.
You also have to exercise, but you don't have to buy the guy's pills. It takes weight off at an alarming rate.

Water fast - nothing to eat, just drink water. As long as you are fasting you will lose weight rapidly, especially if you keep working out. You will pee a lot though.

If your only concerns are cost and speed, then the answer is very simple: radical amputation will take major weight off of your body literally right before your eyes. But it is very painful and dangerous and will not improve your fitness (and will permanently cripple you if you go to far).

For safely, healthily losing fat, I've never seen anything that beats eating a reasonable diet and working out strenuously. However, this won't cause you to lose any weight. It will burn off the fat, but the resultant muscle will weigh at least as much.

I can't believe I actually feel the need to put this here 0_o

Honestly bub... no matter the reason, your best bet is a steady reduction of caloric intake until you EXPEND more calories a day than you EAT. You can do this by either reducing how much you eat, eating "zero calorie" foods (that is, foods that provide so little caloric intake it requires more energy to digest than you get from them, such as lettuce and other high-fiber foods, which coincidentally will make you feel full longer), or increasing your activity level to raise your caloric burn. Additionally, increasing your water intake will help you feel hungry less (surprisingly, if you are overly dehydrated, you will get hungry... go fig) and some foods are great at helping boost metabolism (milk, I believe, helps with that, but beware of the fat content).

It isn't about cutting any one thing out - Atkins and zero-carb diets like it are actually pretty terrible... you are an OMNIVORE, your body was built to take in a bit of everything... so do just that - a BIT of everything.

My mother had a gastric bypass about a year ago... she lost almost 150 pounds... problem is, she didn't change her diet, and so her stomach is re-expanding and she's starting to pile the weight back on *shakes head* She doesn't learn... don't make that kind of mistake. You HAVE to change what you eat, if not how much... eat the right stuff and you wont' be as hungry and will give your body the fuel it needs to burn calories and give you energy.

You're asking our members to deliberately give you advice that will cause harm? Do you want the Moderators to ban all of them for violating the forum rules?

The whole concept of "quick weight loss" is short-sighted and foolish. There's a caveman deep inside each of us. When he detects a famine (a dramatic drop in calorie intake to a point well below maintenance level) he reprograms your body to use what little food it gets more efficiently. Sleep more, move more efficiently, conserve body heat, halt all nervous tics, generate some more optimal digestive enzymes, etc.

When the famine is over he'll happily put everything back the way it was. But if you do this to him three or four times--the "yo-yo diet" in modern terminology, or "an unpredictable food supply" in the language of the Stone Age--he will lock your body in permanent famine mode. He can't take the chance that the next famine will be a killer, so he starts storing fat during good times.

And presto, you've become one of those people who can gain weight on a 1200 calorie diet.

I've met a couple of them, back when I lived in Hollywood, where everyone abused their bodies. They were really pathetic.

My way was to never diet. So today, at age 68, I'm still eating a 2500-calorie diet every day, exercising regularly but moderately, and I'm at a reasonable and stable weight. (6'0", 190lb)

    Your choice!

...and my choice would be a lean sirloin steak - medium well, with a side of baby red potatoes, mushrooms & rosemary, large tossed salad with extra greens - blue cheese dressing on the side, green beans and/or broccoli and about 8 ounces of 2006 or 2007 Midnight Cabernet Sauvignon. Oh yeah - and a slice of chocolate silk pie for dessert.

It can be this one as it is pretty tasty and has about half the calories of a standard chocolate silk pie.

It is best to adjust your diet to lower unhealthy fat, sugar and refined carbohydrates while increasing fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Those foods have lower calorie content so you will be lowering your caloric intake. Then you should take up a regular exercise routine that you can stay with, like walking, bicycling or swimming which will increase the calories that you expend every day. While weight loss will be slow, these changes can alter your 'fat to muscle' ratio over time which will make you healthier and more physically fit.

It is important to think of this as a permanent change in your lifestyle rather than something that you do just to lose some weight for the summer and then gain back in the winter.

Other beneficial changes are such things as deliberately parking far away from your destination so that you have to walk a lot further to get to and from your car, use the stairs instead of the elevator and similar changes. All of these little things will add up to a healthier lifestyle that will make you stronger and more fit while bringing your weight under control.

No salt, no sugar, no dairy, less than 50 carbs a day immediately prior to exercise. Exercise immediately after final meal of the day or immediately before.

Drop the pasta. Complex carbs make weight loss much more difficult. Replace the pasta with nuts.

Yes, but the OP asked for the fastest and cheapest way to lose weight.

Proper, moderate fasting is very likely just that.
