This entire post of yours is 'text speak'. Short sentences that fail to set context and demand the reader interpret your intentions rather than have them laid out clearly for them.

It is annoying and frustrating. It has all the appearances of being a deliberate ploy to annoy and frustrate - a classic passive-aggressive posture.

And you use this same style continuously. Perhaps you think it is cute: it isn't. Perhaps you think it is concise: to the point of ambiguity and beyond. Perhaps you think it establishes your distinctive personality: it does that, but not in the way you would likely intend.

Frankly, I had no idea you were Indian. I just thought you were an asshole. I believed you to be some form of WASP asshole, but the WASP was incidental then, as the Indian is incidental now. The overbearing message of your posting style and content is - asshole. If you don't like that assessment then change your style and content.

You see: arrogant, offensive, belligerent, patronising, self satisfied, or the executive summary - asshole.

I do forget sometimes - you're Indian - or just political enough - to really be invested in what you appear to be invested in.

Which is commendable, actually. Those of us who take things (too) personally are not able to effectively act on our concerns.

I'll mostly just sit and watch from now on.

    @Gustav --

So there are members who aren't worthy to be full members and post here? By what criteria would you decide such a thing?

    The Grand Inquisitors

I would note, Gustav, that I made the mistake of watching a Harry Potter film the other day, out of boredom.

Not that it is significant in and of itself, but for some reason I feel like asking if we're supposed to go Umbridge all over the place.

I mean, not ask you. That answer, as far as I'm concerned, is well-established on the record. But I think of all those proclamations spiked outside the Hogwart's commons and wonder exactly how we might phrase the rule that all levity which might be perceived as ambiguous when crossing cultural lines is prohibited until further notice.

Meanwhile, though I generally loathe offering the obvious advice in such circumstances, I would at least point out that not all jokes written in the English language have the same humorous effect in various cultures populating the English speaking world.

    There isn't.

But while you may be living in the moment and taking each situation as new, from scratch, most people are not like that, and instead operate from a past/future perspective, so they read into statements and situations things that may not have been said.

And if they don't have a particularly pleasant past with you, they won't have such a present either.

I think Gustav has a legitimate point - the "don't rock the boat mentality" is indeed rampant in the world, and it is present here at Sciforums as well.

Businesses, organizations, projects, and many families have failed because of the "don't rock the boat mentality."

For example, the people who were preparing the Challenger to launch knew there were technical problems, but they didn't report them and no further action was taken about those problems, because of the "don't rock the boat mentality."

There is an old film with Robert Redford where he portrays a politician with a radical stance. He doesn't believe he will be elected, he uses the campaign just to have his ideas heard. But as circumstances develop, it turns out that he has chances of political success, and it becomes clear that if he wants to succeed and be elected into the congress where he actually can make a difference, he will need to present his ideas a bit differently.

Gustav could be wise to take a lesson from this.

Signal... why the hell aren't you a police negotiator or something? Lol, you have an aptitude for keeping things level no matter the situation it seems

    you are kinda clueless
situations usually turn into a bloodbath when signal gets involved.
i mean, there is the occasional insight but the tangents are a sight to behold.
5 pages were generated by you, enmos, signal and james trolling.

james's blame game was good for few posts and it would have ended there if not for you cains

    eyeball....

a reference to a prior ban but nevertheless, i am the level headed one

my response to that would be....."neither did i"
signal insists on making a racial/cultural issue out of james's illiteracy. naturally i would exploit that for the lulz

and this is your "keeping things level", eh kitt?

    Lol. Really?

Except that you got all your infractions on your own, and you have your spat going on with JamesR and others, again, all on your own.

You start this thread, asking that all your infractions be reviewed, but you call people names - so what do you really want?

Understanding it that way is a quick way for dealing with it.

You punch people straight into the face and the wonder at their reactance. Duh.

For all I know, you could be posting all this here as part of some socio-psychological experiment ...

a reference to grudges on the part of the mods.
a direct contradiction to james's assertion of a simple misunderstanding.
an assessment that is quite likely but not something that i brought up this time around

lets imagine a standoff b/w the law and some bank robbers with hostages
this peace negotiator is directly informing the robbers about the untrustworthiness of the law. seeing the lack of good faith, they blow the bank up resulting in mass casualties

strawman. all infractions brought up here are disputed on the grounds of boneheaded interpretations of my posts.

an idiotic strawman that ignores the dynamics of any given conversations.

what on earth could that possibly mean? you create a fiction to validate an explanation?

    wrong
i am only desirous of a conversation with those that can effect a change. you masochists come to me in this thread playing the blame game. am i to reward these idiotic episodes of megalomania with kind words?

    Gustav -

Who do you think is your match here at Sciforums?
Who do you think can keep up with you?
Is there anyone here who is "in your league"?
