    It's nothing new, I know.

I've always had a certain sympathy towards Buddhism.
I couldn't embrace it, though, any more than I can embrace anything else.

    Fraggle:
And you remind me of those I coined the term "Readneck" in regards to: educated hicks who read what they're incapable of digesting, so that they end up saying idiotic things about people they don't know.

You did it to the Hopis once, and now you're doing it with me.

Because if Papa Editor-- who like all editors should pride themselves on reading skills-- is referring to my other thread, then:
One: the only people currying my "anger" in there are that alcoholic MacGuyver1968 and his cripple friend, Bells.
And two: my observations include neither the 'stereotype' nor the 'maverick', which would be a tomboy and not a Spongebob with cleavage, but the completely new species of neuter.

In other words, stop reading but read.

    Signal:
Don't ever expect rabid mammals to see past the foam.

All it took was a wee "Lol" from the Nexus to spur the, ahem, "Marquis" to come post in here, under the pretense he's too "inebriated" to know better.

You know, like that desperate whore who's just had a tiny sip of Tequila and is tippled over pretending she's too stupid to notice her panties are showing.

I say we wait a few hours for the dumb thing to calm down and read what Lenny Bruce says about him on page 46: "There's nothing sadder than an aging hipster"

    Me Kai Gal:
But is it as amusing as our little Marquis prancing about in this thread with his 'bottle'?

Anyway, my transmission is out and I'm having a shit day. We can either amuse ourselves at his expense or we can post about what I dreamed last night.

You've embraced something - we all have - it just may be a contradictory mess or a hybrid.

If by that "something" you mean an Asian slut desperate and hungry enough to buy his churlish pretensions, then, of course.

Always happy to be a straight man...but to respond as if I was not only that: any pretentions would also be part of that something.

Yeah, that was the second ROA of three I tested. But the onset of inhaling was a bit too abrasive for my taste, like a row boat jerking while standing up—smoking was more like a gentle sway; easier to find balance.

Copper as in popper? But those require the perfect setting, otherwise it degenerates into the perfect headache.

You surprise me, The Marquis. I never would have thought…

Well, I put these experiences in perspective because the settings and moods and expectations are so disaffected from each other's realities, each other's headspace. For example, if I plan to travel, I start packing months ahead of time, you know, psyching myself up to it, like foreplay. But when I'm not traveling, which is normally the case now, everything is already put in place as it should be—no need looking for something more.

Edit: will this too be deleted?

I'm not sure you understand I was referring to that buffoon pretending he's drunk over there.

It is what he does to disguise what's really a base, social impulse for marking a territory and, like a poodle, letting you all know that its here.

    Not really.

Pretensions are a last resort. Beat men are fascinating creatures when they toy with them.
But let's deconstruct your assumption: if they are, in fact, the positive acquisitions your post implies, then why do they complement attributions of misery in the practitioner?

No, it's not that (BTW—I've overcome that neurosis...) But The Marquis' post about having used— and to which I responded—has gone missing.

    Hmmmm.....

So perhaps we can suppose That Moderator Girl is sifting our posts in here and that it was she who erased them?

Here's my dream, anyway: I've got these gigantic hands, about the size of an antelope, and I've got an article that needs to be done in an hour. I try blowing on them, sticking them on the stove, spraying them with perfume and Clorox, to no avail since the skin is peeling off and revealing even bigger hands underneath bursting out through the wounds.

Each time I try peeling them off, a new pair comes blossoming out from the carcass, like winged beasts unfurling from their chrysalids.
It was very Kafkaesque in that complete loss of control in become a crippled monstrosity.

Then I dreamed about shitting on the Marquis *grin*.

I got the general sense of what you meant.

I never said this 'something' was positive. He's got a set of beliefs, not including, it seems Buddhism. And he has embraced them - they lead to all sorts of outburts, assertions, actions. These can be negative, confused, self-sabotaging, or, yes, positive, but he's embraced them.

I don't believe one can be without 'something', despite his claim not to have embraced anything. I think some people think that if they have NOT embraced a system, they don't have one. They do. It's bricolage.

    *sniff*sniff* Ahhh.....
Perhaps this is why I keep returning to you Sciforum bitches: that rare, novel insight or that neat, novel word.

    "Bricolage"

    Here's another one: apophasis.

A word used to describe something only by detailing what it is not. Here's the rub: if the object is that of creating something only by enjoining what it isn't , can we really say you've built anything at all?

Take nihilism, a philosophy entirely propagated by denial. Never mind that a 'nihilist' is really a liar who likes his bed warm-- its purest form is apathy.

    Does apathy embrace anything?

I've liked that word since I hit it in Levi-Strauss - or really 'bricoleur'. I am not sure he refers to things as bricolage but rather focuses on the agents.

Which is like some offshoot of 20 questions.

Nihilists in reality, as far as I call tell, have a whole mass of positive beliefs, in the sense of actual claims about what is.

Yes, I think it does. It embraces a bunch of reasons not to act. There is ususally a set of beliefs about what will happen and what will not happen, how God or society or women or 'the man' is against them or will undermine their actions or take away the fruits. That being mocked for a failure even if later there is success is sufficient cause not to act. That the current state of things is the permanent state of things. That if no single spasmatic act can change my life, no incremental steps could make a difference.

    And so on.

And people embrace these 'things' for reasons. Past experience of course, but there are also fears they really don't want to notice.

Or a pissiness they don't want to notice. I think apathy shares this with some depressions.

    Hmm....
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Learned_helplessness

That last part...is kind of iffy...where exactly does a perceived lack of ability to do anything end, and an actual lack of control begin? Practically, it's a fuzzy area; one just has to do one's best and learn to accept that.

I'm having a battle with a friend I have known for about a year. She believes her helplessness, hopelessness, and worthlessness is a fact, and gets hurt (and angry with me, though she won't admit it) when I tell her that the above's an opinion, that I think she's worth a lot, she can get better, she can do something to help herself. She seems to think I'm somehow discounting her reality when I tell her this.

I believe it may have started raining.
Watch what she has done so far and will do from here. She's very good.
I think we're in the circus phase - see the tickets being sold? Usually she's a little more subtle, but this time it's like watching the talker for a titty show at midnight, with the vague promise of a little extra after the show... if you have the coin.

No, no. Haven't you ever seen what happens to an old copper coin when you leave it soaking in Coke? Maybe they've changed the recipe a little since I was younger.
I was simply making the comparison between that and what had happened to the roof of my mouth. As in, not doing that again.

I was a Sannayassin for a little while. A long time ago, of course, and only ever on the fringe. Just a youthful fad. If you're aware of who they were, then perhaps things will be put into a little more perspective for you. I tend to stay home most of the time, particularly these days, but every now and then I get itchy feet again. There aren't too many places still on the list I have yet to see.

I've always believed the key is in the company. The vast majority seem to be of the ilk who will travel to Paris and spend their entire time in nightclubs. No point in going all the way to Paris for that.
For that reason alone, my own experiences have been few and far between.
As for "more"... It's not as if I'm ever actively looking, but the awareness is always there. That's the difference.

    Gendanken:
Not up to your usual standard. You're pulling bums off the street to fill up seats now? Give 'em a blowjob if they'll go beat up on that guy over there?

Perhaps I've simply seen the show too many times.

But seriously... what is this about? You said you were bored, I said I was bored. We stopped talking.
    I don't understand.
    Just go, Pinocchio.

That pounding in your ears seeing I'm actually responding to you.

Yes, we're going to pretend everyone else is a bum but not you, that stupid degenerate slinking about in the shadows like a tramp with its thumb out hitching for posts.

Oh, but we understand quite well, don't we love?

Should we write it in Slurvian for a moron like you to better decipher it?
Or should we just sit back and make out little patterns from the piss you keep trickling in here with your asshole?
That would be the musk sprinkling out from your scent glands, canid.
Read close, idiot: I have ALWAYS been good at finishing what you start.

    Why?
Because silly 'nihilists' like you are completely incapable of finishing anything.

Coming from you, really, that is funny.

Gendanken, seeing that I have barely been here this last week, you know, the "cripple" needs to keep up with her treatments, real life and all, I can assure you, I have not deleted anything from this thread.

I will advise you and others involved in this ménage à trois that you have going, to keep your personal fecal matters out of this subforum. While you may see this as an opportunity to take little jibes with your "lol" support from Invert, and responses from Marquis, it has no place in this subforum. I'd suggest you take it to PM, email, skype, sms's or even create some sort of little community where you and your puppies can enjoy nipping or licking each other to your heart's content. If you cannot, then I will shut this thread and/or delete every single post that involves anything pertaining to the personal issues the three of you have.

The above also refers to you.

In that case, we'll talk about dreams, shall we?

I've already contributed mine of corprophagia, Coolies, and big hands, the term of dreaming as 'brain vomit' where that boy has yet to say anything other than something resembling hyenas marking a rock with its asshole.

So fill in the void-- give us a dream.
