two wrongs don't make a right. that goes for the one wishing me to be stung to death for protecting people.I was told to respect the creatures around me. You can not sleep in the same place with a bear, or tiger. The nest was very big and dangerious. People die all the time not respecting pets. I respected the wasps flying around me in swarms when trying to find homes in the house siding. but if they get too big and become aggressive they get sprayed so i can leave the house. fortunately the wasps just swarm and land on me. i can blow on them to leave or ick them up and hold them in my palms for warmth before throwing them up to fly away. i will not risk my life for a bee though.

so you tear your teeth into alive plant, eat it and digest it slowly, poor plants. really people think plants don't have feelings?

 

I don't blame you. I would of done the same. That is some pain there. I've been stung by a very very large red wasp. It was an amazing critter. In lousiana they are huge. Stepped on it bear foot and my bottom part of my foot swelled up huge. At least it wasn't a hornet. I've seen those chase a boy over a block and man they hit him hard, you could hear it, right in the ear.

People think because they love bees that its all right to have them that close to your home and children are fooling themselves. A bee doesn't know you love bees. It doesn't ask questions, and if you do something to trigger an attack a person could die. most honeybee farms kept way away from the home. its call respect.

I dont care about plants...Burn Them All if u want.
but come-on, why kill animals if u r not gonna eat them?

good question. i hate it, just hate it when people slaughter needlessly, like whales, seals, wolf. People do it all the time and its sad.

when those bumble bees came up. after i noticed i was not in harms way, they were beutiful. big and colorful. i watched them for hours. icould of call the owner back earlie and killed them all. i didn't. i let them find a new place to dwell hoping not to close by to children. the nest was practically vacant by the time i had to warn the owner. hardly any bees were distroyed compared to how many there were.

 

sorry enmos, but kids will yell and scream around here all the time. sometimes i go outside to check and thinking their hurt. my kid didn't scream like my neighbors do. and their fine. almost wanted to give a reason. urggg. bees don't like that kind of activity too close to the nest. now that they were exposed, i felt it in good judgement call for the owner to burn them. and those guys with bees on them will get stung at times. they have a tolerence to it. not all people do. i know someone who has to carry those ready shot things when visiting over here because we have so many kinds here in swarms. they hug the plants they love. im glad they like this newest ground cover i got. at first the yellow jackets were aggressive to me tending to it. like moving grass away. now i don't touch until its cooler outside and their resting. the european wasp follow me around. used to me giving them water. but they are possesive up snap peas and tomatoes. strange, they go after my feet. i've learned most their behaviors. now i've learned more.

 

i have feelings toward plants just as i do animals. alot of animals feel the same. plants release chemicals when being ravaged or broken, its possible its a cry for help. usually bees will sense this and protect.

i literally will cry if i see a tree cut down. i love weeping willows especially.

after taking environmental horticulture ive learned alot about plants. seisko watcher. there are alot of species being killed off. we went to this sanctuary for perserving the species. people will kill themselves in the long run when theres no drought hardly, or plants that tolerate flooding are destroyed. the gov. can save all the seeds they want for emergency, but it does little good if they have no resistance to changes in their environment.

 

Not true, wild game meat is not organic. Besides, it's wild animals you're talking about.

Usually, that's quite true. However, that doesn't mean you have to exterminate them. And, also, I hope you're not equating having a couple of bumblebees in the garden to sleeping with bears or tigers..

It wasn't dangerous.

Bumblebees are not pets. And if people disrespect wild life they deserve what they get.

I don't get it. Are you saying that you will risk your life for wasps but nor for bees? That is.. sort of irrational..

Educate the kids instead of exterminating an entire nest.

By the way, I was wrong before when I said bumblebees die when they sting. I had them confused with bees. Sorry.
Fact remains that bumblebees are not aggressive unless pushed.

I hope to get a picture of one of these some time, but will not be picking it up. It's a local variety of wingless ground wasp or ant called a "cow-killer," supposedly because the sting is so painful it feels like it could kill a cow.
