I doubt you really want to know that. You seem decided already.

    Do they really think that?

I've answered your question about why people watch this before, but you didn't address my post.

If their very life and limb were in peril and it is something that I am obviously sure about, that I might successfully intervene to prevent loss? :bugeye:

I am right with myself, I have my priorities straight. The mere fact that you pose this question says to me that my points are well made and that the establishment, the state, and our culture have transmitted it mores and values more effectively than the ancient ones handed down by our families, and the natural ones we are born with as social empathetic naturally cooperative creatures.

However. . . I agree with you. I don't think we evolved to function in an over crowded environment to our optimum efficiency. We need familiarity and intimacy. We I believe we need social context and interactions that we can invest our emotions in, it makes the world and our reality easier to care about. At the same time, when we have this, it is much easier to see and regard all life as valuable and beneficial when artificial control isn't manipulating our environment, creating a sort of modern zoo, where our (I believe better potentials are suppressed) and other traits are emphasized for what ever reasons I guess we can speculate on.

Well, I didn't watch it. All I need to know is that it happened to discuss it. If someone says it happened, and there is documented video evidence, I guess that is good enough for me. I only wonder why the videographer decided to to film it instead of do something about it before it happened.

Since I started this thread allow me to explain. I watched the video to see for myself, rather than read some biased editorial or hearsay. Part of me does wish I hadn't watched it, I'd sleep better if I had chosen not to click. That's why I gave a fairly detailed account of the events in the op, just for those that didn't want to watch it. And I don't think it's like watching snuff or kiddie flicks.

why not? Its said that its a child being killed. If it was said it was of a video of a child being raped, would that be ok to watch? A child being raped is worse than a child being killed, therefore it would be wrong to watch it?

    That is true.

Still, i see the two thing you mentioned differently. One was an accident too and i think that makes a difference.

So its ok to watch video of a child being run over (an accident) and killed vs someone shooting a child on purpose.

    I don't understand why. I really don't.

issues like this tend to bring out the racism and prejudice with those who are morally weak or corrupt. you will even read opinions such as the mass slaughter of some ethnic group citing them as subhuman when these things occur while hypocritically pretending to care about the poor victim who is also a part of that same ethnic group? strange contradiction people are? yep.

but this is not anything new. china is undergoing an industrial revolution and in america back in the day these types of things were rampant with exploitation, cutting safety corners etc and all types of corruption as well as polluting the environment. people ignore this to delude themselves that they are more ethical than others when in fact, without the laws in place and enforced, there would be even more tremendous corruption and people showing their true colors which for many are downright totally exploitive, selfish and inhumane.

it's not that they are different, it's just that the laws need to change as the public demands it and consciousness is raised. it usually works by advocates being moved by their friends and family being a victim.

people in safer countries are not inherently more compassionate or moral, it may appear that way but people are motivated by their own safety concerns as well as for their friends and family and that spills over to enacting and enforcing better laws which help protect everyone or make a better society. this is a domino effect which makes it appear in the end that people were just an altruistic and very moral people to begin with which is not the case. but it works out in the end for the overall betterment of all.

stupid. honour? so everyone in western countries are honorable? lol. i wouldn't even say half could even be considered truly honorable. really and truly good people are a minority in comparison to just average go-along-with-status quo to make my life easier and get what i want to just corrupt people.

what a load of deluded self-righteous shit.

True that, we'd make 5 and 6 year olds work in factories...I seem to remember reading about kids being chained to workstations in the late 1800's.

Our idea of childhood has changed quite a bit-children were long thought of as little adults-and in the case of a lot of factories, adults with conveniently smaller hands and/or bodies.

The Triangle shirtwaist factory fire was an inspiration for safety regulations in New York state and elsewhere...

And teen girls died in it.

I do wonder if the parents of the 2-year old girl would have let a son wander so cavalierly. Not that they wanted her dead-they may be very distraught...but let's face it, she could not carry on the line. So I wonder.

Fuck you, just a few posts before I said basically the same shit you did, that they are going through the 17th century industrial revolution now. Yes NO Honour in it.

We do not want this to happen again and since China is about to be top dog, we must rebel against it.

i don't know who you think you are fooling with your bullshit but i'm not fazed by it.

you said they have no honour and should be shunned. by your retarded logic then the west should be deemed that they have no honour and should be shunned.

the solution isn't to shun them or to say they have no honour, only a complete moron would think that which evidently you are.

public outcry which happens within china as well as outside is what makes eventual changes.

there are good people in china just like there are bad like anywhere else.

btw, fuck yourself. only someone who is disingenous and full of it would have made such a self-righteous and false statement such as yourself.

    Allow me to enlighten you.
Since we're being specific, in this case I was curious to see the reaction of passers by, as I had read a small amount of text that suggested mentioned how terrible it was that so many people would choose to ignore a badly hurt child. At no point was I curious to see a child run over by a truck, let alone in in the detail shown in the video. For all I knew the video may have only contained stills and heavily censored images. As it happens the video is quite graphic, and all the more disturbing for it.

Now, the reason watching that video is different than to checking out snuff or child porn out of some kind of morbid curiousity is very personal. For me, even if I knew where to find such material I'm not interested in viewing it for any reason, I fear it would upset me too much and I may never get over what I saw. I don't know that for a fact, but I'm not willing to take the gamble.
