How many people in our societies die virgins or without ever having a girlfriend in their whole life?

I really would like to know.

And if the dead could talk, I am sure they would answer your question..

    Alas..

But what exactly do you wish to know? Whether there are people who die virgins? I would say the answer to that is yes. I think think the most interesting question is why some choose to follow such a path. Is it a religious vocation, or a lack of desire for sexual contact, or possibly social conditioning whereby some are taught that sex is bad, etc.

    Mod Note

I will keep this thread open for now, as it has the possibility of discussing aspects of human sexuality and whether some do not have the drive to have sex, or whether some are excluded entirely either by choice or circumstance.

If, however, this does descend into the realm of 'lolz u didn't get some', then I will be closing and shifting it to Cesspool.

Hope the article below helps. Also hope you aren't Mexican-American.

You'll need to specify your criteria.

Are we to include the statistics of all the people who die as children (under age of 18?)?

kill klown your link has a "well duh" in it. If they are talking about devirginising people then its cumlitive, which means OF COURSE the youngest are going to have the lowest statistics because its the 20-29 year olds PLUS the 30 to 39 PLUS the 40-49 ect

Bells your a mod again? cool

I'm trying to find a good research link (and failing) that talks about the link between Asperger's and delays in milestones such as initial sexual experience.

If you have trouble reading social cues...you have trouble reading when people are flirting with you too.

I think I can relate to that though I haven't officially gotten diagnosed. It's all got me to realize that things of the mind are much more rewarding than sexual and reproductive drive.

I've gotten enough of sexual rushes by myself to say I could be more successful if my focus on intellectual things hadn't been diverted by hormones.

Conversely, we should also ask how many people engage in sex (while not desiring to have children)
because they have been socially conditioned to do so.

This converse does not actually cover the full scope of possibilities for statistical purposes

Though I am a little concerned as to the origional question by using girlfriend implcation excluding the female of the human species. Surly that would make the coverse you are considering exclude men!

Which would be a very valid and pertinent question.

I think it is fair to say that the majority have sex for pleasure and not solely for reproductive purposes. In the sense that it is not just the wife's duty to lie there and think of England, because the sexual act was solely for reproduction, if that was ever truly the case.

But it would be interesting to see if in strong religious communities, whether sex is still seen as being solely for reproduction and that the pleasure aspect is deemed evil...

here's what answers.com has to say about it.

Approximately 4% of people in the United States die a virgin, while 20% of people 20 or younger are still virgins.

The Pope came out last year or the year before and said that couples should enjoy sex . That the pleasure of sex was for humans to enjoy by God . Seemed like an about face of Catholic Dogma . I hope it don't affect the Catholic girls as they liked braking the rules in the past . Now if they are not braking the rules by having fun in the sack then they might end up your guys wives . Just Joking ! Ha Ha Ha Oh God I am funny Ha Ha Ha Ha At least to my self . God this is the funnest Forum there ever was . I love S.F. Kiss

Are you asking because of a personal reason. If so, I'd say hire a professional to show you the ropes or get you over the hump (you know what I mean). Then if you still want a girlfriend you won't feel so awkward about getting involved.

Asking for own perspective of others and not the exact statistic, I must say it’s 5% or less of the total world population. (base on what I saw in the society and their lifestyle)..conservatism was out of the picture.

i'm not so sure a vow of celibacy would count, as it doesn't include any considerations to before one took the vow..(not to mention any breaking of that vow.)

    seriously disabled ppl would qualify,
as would kids who have died before maturity,

I have met (once upon a time) a woman who was old, who i could have sworn was a virgin(never asked)..my dad hired her as a housekeeper..she didn't last long (about a month) she was not a good cook..(have you ever smelled boiled liver?)

I don't know where this idea comes from that in (some) religions, the pleasure aspect of sex is "deemed evil."

I was raised that you didn't have sex until you were married. I know for a fact that my cousin Debbie was a virgin until she got married in her late 30s (she was raised the same way). I don't understand how her husband didn't find that odd.

I wonder if there are more guy virgins that gal virgins.
