According to her daughter, she knew back in June that she wasn't going to run, nevertheless her Superpac had been asking for donations until a few days ago.

That is outright fraud in my book, but what do we expect from Reps???

I'm not sure it rises to the level of outright fraud, though it is certainly disingenuous and--on my part--the only part I'm surprised about is the fact that you seem surprised about the whole thing.

While Sarah Palin seems to be the worst of the worst in the American political scene (which--I grudgingly admit--puts her lower than Magda Goebbels Bachmann), posturing to run for president to make money for their PAC/SuperPAC as well as to make their name more marketable is American as apple pie. (Saying that it's as American as Crackwhores is probably a more apropos comparison, though).

One could suggest it surprising that her supporters fell for it. But then one remembers that they are Palin supporters. In that light, it's not so surprising.

Did I really look surprised? Well, we have to give her credit for successfully milking the idiot donors. The August bus tour was so obviously a family vacation, paid by the well "we the people".
I actually miss her not running. She would add more color and dilute the field. That's what we call win-win, rarity in Rep circles...

    How's about that Dems fraud of . . . . "labor unions collect member dues . . . then unions contribute $$$ to Dems . . . then Dems support labor unions . . . ?" thingy?

That's also legal unfortunately. But the money is far less than Rep. donors can afford.

How about the US Chamber of Commerce fraud, collect dues and then contribute to Republicans; then Republicans support the US Chamber of Commerce. Now repeat that several thousandfold for all of the lobbyist and corporate PACs throughtout the nation and put that into some perspective.

    . . . LOTS more union members than COC members . . . I'd guess!

My guess is you had trouble reading the part about the PACs.

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

And my guess is when you add the money spent, corporate money dwarfs anything mustered by unions.

Judging by your posts, your are definately not one of those "independent" folks. And I don't know what your membership status in any of the organizations you listed has to do with being independent.

. . . I am "registered" as an Independent . . . au contraire . . . there are folks on both political sides that I like . . .and others (on both sides) that I do not like . . .I have to say (not to you, but in general) however, that I really dislike (not hate) ignorance . . . but that seems to be a irresolvable issue (i.e., human condition)!

Well, technically it is not a fraud until she announces that she wouldn't run. She could also change her mind, like 100 times, I guess...

Isnt this another reason to have public funding for election campains? If you can only use the money to pay media companies and other set items and if you dont run unless there are extraordionary cirumstances (death, illness, mental breakdown ect) then you are liable to refund the state for any funding it has provided you couldnt do this

    Yes.

But under the current Constitution, it would require an amendment and that is highly unlikely.

Of course it is. Unfortunately pols on both sides engage in unethical behavior. So there for it will continue to be business as usual.
