There's no "we" in that question, it's all "you". Whom you love/hate is completely dependent on your highest values. Perhaps a top value for you is how you feel. You should love people that make you feel good and hate people who do not. Perhaps a top value for you is truth. You should love people who tell the truth and hate people who don't. And so on...

And what per-say is truth ? Circumstance out of peripheral view can cloud the issue real fast and dismissal with pungent attitude becomes the mob rule. I thought that very funny when Hillery kicked the flag over in her campaign . Did it contribute to the change of winds of the peoples . I got to think it had very profound influence on involuntary mind sets of the populace . Was the change of heart already in play ?

Truth is when an idea/notion in your mind matches actual reality.

It is still your personal 'decision' to do so. You can't hate or love on command.

it may be our personal choice.is it possible to express your love and hate as you feel freely in the society where you belong. If our feeling matches with that of society there is no harm.if not the struggle begins within.why such contradictions?why right is not right and wrong is not wrong in every social members mind.

How would you express love and how would hate, otherwise without expression they are just words.

So what counts as hate: a snide tone of voice, smiling 'sympathetically' while giving you a demotion, condescension....or must it be openly expressed hatred?

Who you hate varies with the culture you grew up in:

“… You've got to be taught, before it's too late
Before you are 6 or 7 or 8, to hate all the people
your relatives hate, you've got to be carefully taught. ..."

English version from South Pacific musical but I’m almost sure the original is in German from the “The three penny opera.”

Oy, then we'd have to hate ourselves. We can't have that.

    Pointless to "not" hate.

You can control your emotions, you cannot stop them from happening.

We are all the same, so theoretically you should hate no one... or everyone.

I am not the same as you. I hate lots of people. Some people make it very easy to hate them

Hate is similar to a repulsive force that separates. Love is like an attractive force that brings use together. The duality of love and hate can dynamically cancel, like a satelite orbiting a planet. We try to separate, while also bring attracted, causing us to remain in orbit, but at a distance.

This love-hate orbitting might be the best use for hate. Instead of just merging with everything via love, since not all things are true, we combine love with hate so we can orbit and observe. If all is well, love helps us land.

I only hate a couple of people; they worked very hard to achieve that...mainly I fear people, and the more I like them the more I fear them until I really like them and go away.:bugeye:

I do annoy the crap out of myself regularly and if I were me I would not hang out with me. As I am me I have no choice in the matter, but I stay home a lot so nobody else has to put up with me

Why keep the emotion in your heart? It gets you nothing but unaimed anger.

Just look life in the eye. Go out one day and give direct eye contact to everyone! Be confident, and remember they are more afraid of you than you them.
