My creative labs player was pretty user friendly, and not having itunes was a huge bonus. I only found it because I went out of my way to find an alternative to the ipod. Nobody else had any idea there were alternatives. I really think it just comes down to a strong marketing campaign. That's why some poor products sell better than better ones.

Apple stores allow me to make free appointments with their "geniuses," when something does not work as expected. They fixed my problems, at no cost, at several occasions.

    hey there,
Yes I agree that many people go for Apple rather than Windows and the reason for this is that Apple is less exposed to viruses. I read about it here:"techyv.com/questions/does-apple-mac-os-get-affected-viruses" You can also check it out. The information given here is very good and will surely tell you loads about Apple.

People like Apple for the same reason they like fancy cars and expensive watches, it's a status symbol plain and simple (for the laptops anyway, the iphone is good but I like android better and the 27 inch imacs actually price out about the same as a pc if you consider the $1000 2560x1440 screen it has).

It definitely has advantages in certain areas (app programming for smartphones for instance) but the average person that is buying an Apple is not doing those things.

That's a myth and use to be the case, as soon as Apple started releasing OS's that could run on PC architecture without having to be hacked about, they opened a whole can of worms, Mac users are at more risk than they use to be and considering the number of Phone applets gone rogue the problems going to get worse and not easily better.

The thing is that these things are fucking expensive and you don't even get to do hatever you want with them.

Sure most people just want to use them for sexting, checking facebook and rating each other's poo, but you're putting a lot of money into it. If yoy want to fuck around with it, it should be your right.

Even android phones are useless unrooted. They come bloated with shit you don't want and can't install, and the stuff you actually need is off bounds.

Here in the UK they are pretty much free if you are willing to throw a trash can through a window shop.

My rule for legality, as long as you aren't convicted, it is legal

Doesn't mean it is morale, but it is legal

Well this is where Maturity can be identified.

After all the "Steal whatever as long as you don't get caught there is no consequence" is bullshit. I mean how would you like everything you own being stolen, placed in a pile and burnt and not knowing who did it? It generates consequence, potentially causes the need for Vigilantism in your from the need of revenge, which you might go off and attack someone else that wasn't responsible.

Worse still you could get shot for a crime you didn't commit because someone else got away with it.

Seriously you need to make sure that what you post here you don't live by in the real world, or one day you will wake up to a world of hurt one way or another.

"Doesn't mean it is morale, but it is legal "

I think your mind skipped that part...

Plus I don't think you can identify a joke when it stares you right in the face.

There is a difference between what is legal and what should moral people do (yes I know I spelled moral wrong).

What I said is right to an extent, in reality, laws are only laws when enforced and consequence given for complying or disobeying the law.

    Cause and effect.

I have been using Apple products since before PCs were available as anything other than a do it yourself kit.

I stayed with Apple in the beginning partly as a matter of habit and partly because in those early years the components were always cutting edge and of the highest quality.

I have owned only two Apple or Mac based products that have "broken" of failed for other than user related issues. One was my Apple II ( 1st revision of the mother board) which failed due to expanding the thing beyond the heat tolerances of the mother board. The other was an HP mac that had a hard drive crash. HP use cheap components, that were subject to random failure.

Generally Macs have incorporated state of the art technology when compared to the PCs available concurrently. And prior to the Intel switch were utilizing processors of a much higher caliber than most competing desktops.

Crurrently, OS X with a Unix base is probably one of the strongest reasons to use a Mac over PC. Though as pointed out earlier in the thread you could load Linux on your PC.

While at work, I used PCs and Windows, the security once connected to the Internet was one of their biggest problems. Macs on the same network were never theirselves adversely affected by the constant virus and worm issues the system as a whole faced.

I was often asked by co-workers what they should buy for a home computer. Generally my response was that it depends upon what your intended use would be.

Historically Macs cost more, as much as twice as much, but the hardware was far better, than the less expensive PCs. It seems to some extent that is leveling out these days. The Macs most significant persisting advantage is the Unix firewall within OS X (if you set it properly). And not being dependent upon Windows and its many bugs.

As I have said I have been using Apple products and Macs specifically since the inception of home computers. I have never installed any virus software on any of the machines I have owned and have never had any related problems. There was a time when one of my OS X systems remained turned on and connected to the Internet actively, for in excess of six months without any interruption.

As someone pointed out earlier if you are interested in games a PC and Windows may be a better choice, but in that case why not just buy a dedicated game machine that can out perform the PC?

Jokes are funny, that technically wasn't. It didn't even involve a Duck.

Theories abound, some believe it's the result of cultish indoctrination. Why buy a thing that constantly needs patches and fix ups?
I think there's a wanker element to apple ownership!

On the flip side why buy something running Windows that needs the patches and fix up and never gets them.

Apple is very good at finding and fixing bugs and security problems as they are discovered.

Microsoft has never felt it necessary. They just work on the next upgrade that will still be buggy when released and generally only upgraded when they are forced to.

I think its just a matter of scale, Vista was a disaster for Microsoft of course, but the problem with Apple is that they rush to release their next slick new product knowing that there will be hoards of simpering worshipers queuing around the corner to buy this stuff.
I admit that Apple products look good which is fine for the industrial designers working at apple. Only the geeks doing the OS seem determined to make it so that anything that's not specifically designed for Apple will not work on the damn things.

My last Mac was a tower and I ran OS X and Windows both. At work we had only Windows machines in my department. I did a lot of work at home. Some of it I did on OS X and then exported and some I did in ypthe Windows environment. Some of the software was company owned and I did not feel inclined to spend my own money for the Mac versions.

Even prior to the Intel based machines Macs have been able to run multiple operating systems.

Really, like I said when asked which is better, I admit I am partial to the Mac, but it depends upon what you are used to and what you want to do.
