Welcome Back: Survival Tips

Look, Gustav, you're going about this all wrong. What you need to do, it seems, is write longer posts insulting, say, James. Use phrases like "if James hadn't had his prissy head on it" and insult the community: "I let a lot slip, seems this site caters for thin skinned prissy types, and the rest of us pick up infractions."

We might look to a splinter thread that emerged from a separate complaint thread in order to advise you about how to avoid getting suspended.

• Write more traditional posts that are easier to quote for reply.

• Insult the people you're complaining about regularly.

• Complain about a subject that generally interests the moderator you're complaining about, so the accused can argue politics, theology, or whatever else along the way.

• Most importantly: Be wrong. Be exceptionally wrong. Be the kind of wrong that allows a moderator to enjoy stringing out accommodating a ridiculous waste of time and energy the way a cat drags out the killing of a mouse. Be so stupidly wrong that the moderator would rather keep you around to embarrass yourself than suspend you and end the show.​

Follow those rules and you can keep at it, very nearly forever. Or, at the very least, in excess of a month at a time.

Looking elsewhere around Sciforums, it seems it also helps if you pick moderators who are less inclined to suspend people. That way, you get to say things like—

• "well that's because you're the quintessential hater bitch."

• "you ... are a hateful bitch."

• "you are either a troll, or you are hands down the dumbest bitch i've ever come across."

• "MY WHOLE FUCKING POINT IS, AND HAS BEEN THROUGHOUT THIS THREAD, THAT IT'S ME. THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT YOU DUMB FUCK. CAN'T YOU READ? CAN'T YOU COMPREHEND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE? WTF?!"

• "here's you paraphrased, 'nope, nothing wrong with me. i'm not part of the problem. i'm such a dumb ass i don't know what makes people do these things, i don't know why people suffer, and i don't really give a flying fuck.'"​

—and feel secure that the moderator isn't going to suspend you, but, rather, simply deal with it in the debate.

(And, yes, this creates some question about the appearance of consistency, but that, as you know, is a complicated, multivalent discussion in which we have to account for the proposition that all moderators ought to be bound to a specific standard—usually the least tolerant and most aggressive.)

In sum: Write "better" (as such) posts; pick subject matter that entertains the moderator; be incorrect to the point of dark comedy—if all else fails, take it out on a moderator who's not looking for a reason to suspend you.

That, as near as I can tell, is the secret to success.

It also helps if you're not Muslim, since that condition requires a separate formula for appeasement of the powers that be, but last I checked you're not, so we'll skip that for now.
