    Good points T

Notwithstanding that there are a multitude of Osama clones, some o f whom claim responsibility for 9/11, they are accompanied by other Osama clones who deny responsibility

I've already covered a lot of redundant ground here but fwiw:

The problem is how do you separate fact from fiction? Which is the real Osama? The one who spoke to journalists in India and Pakistan or the one who spoke to reporters of strings reading list?

We can never know any of that.

Indeed, we can never know that SciForums really exists.

Where's the proof that you aren't all simply projections of my own consciousness, which exists in a swirling void of unreality?

At any rate, it doesn't matter what any of us believes anymore, let's hope this is an attempt to close this ridiculous chapter of U.S History.

Considering the high levels of gullibility of people who endorse extrajudicial killings as though they were an advancement of their rights rather than a regression, I have a feeling, this is just the beginning

Who has pronounced him dead? The americans have only done so once and that's what counts. Why did you never question the rumor that he was already dead? Why didn't you ask for the death certificate? Body? Marker in the ground? What its only when the U.S military says he's dead that you question its veracity?

In my opinion, this was an excellent result for the people of the free world, everything that OBL hated, and I'm glad to say it was his hatred that made him a target and his hatred that got him killed.
Of course the body was dumped in the sea. Who wants a shrine to (new word) Islamofaschism? The nutters have a feeble enough grip in religeon-fuelled paranoid delusionalism. Why give their paranioa a focal point to rally round?
SAM can sit in denial all he wants, but the rest of us know that this was a good job well done (if a few years overdue.)
It also shows AQ and the Taliban that no-one is beyond reach. I hope it gives them sleepless nights.

The United States needs to relinquish custody of the terrorists from Guantanamo Bay to China. They would handle them "properly"!

Actually after reading about his kidney problems, I assumed he must have died in 2002 - when his pharmaceutical list showed his kidneys to be in poor shape - from my experience of patients with kidney failure, this is the most likely time of death Also this is probably the closest claim to truth since I have not seen any video since where Osama resembles the old Osama.

Of course, but to people outside the US Americans appear exceptionally gullible and stupid in what they choose to believe. They are probably the only country in the world who demonstrate against healthcare while celebrating extrajudicial killing. That doesn't speak well of their critical thinking faculties.

Of course it's still the beginning of the battle against religious tyranny and totalitarianism.

True enough, but there are possible explanations for that which are not so sinister. For example, it could all have been a trap - it occurs to me that we might well want Pakistan to appear to be playing both sides regardless of their true intentions.

Of course, even if it was a trap, you'd expect that they might have sprung it a bit sooner, and might have wanted to get more direct, unequivocable credit for such. Then again, they might have preferred to keep OBL somewhere they could keep an eye on him, allowing them to control him as a prod to US assistance, but with the ability to shut him down if they desire.

Still, the most likely explanation is indeed that Pakistan's security and intelligence agencies are divided and multifarious. It's not unlikely that this development reflects some shift in power between different factions inside the Pakistani military/intel complex.

Actually it is a battle of perceptions.

But who wins such battles? In India we have a saying, you don't bore a hole into the plate from which you are eating. So yes, I think there is a battle, but everyone loses

You do not speak for "people outside the US."

To people in this thread, you appear exceptionally gullible and stupid in what you choose to believe. And nasty, to boot, what with your gleeful siezure of any opportunity to slander an entire nation in cheap, prejudicial terms.

By now your reputation for critical thinking, reaonable standards of evidence, and unprejudiced readings is so lacking that such assessments, coming from you, carry a weight somewhere between zero and outright negative. If we're disagreeing with your "reasoning," I count that as prima-facie evidence that we're on the right track.

Your willingness use an "OBL is dead" thread as a platform for cheap national slurs says some unpleasant things about you, as well.
