If it hasn't been said already...

Queue the conspiracists pointing to burial at sea, the lack of a verifiable body, and previously (allegedly) faked video footage as proving the Obama faked Bin Ladin's death in order to get re-elected.

Oops, I see I'm too late with this one.

Mod Notes: Asguard has been warned.

Look. I get it. This topic makes people crazy, happy, annoyed and political. This forum is about OBL's death and the politics of the same.

If you want to question about all the other issues, then go start another thread

So the good Captain won't explicate on the issue of me and my conspiracy theories?

Where exactly are you guiding our ship?

This is very good news for the nation. But it is very bad news for Republicans/Tea Partiers. This bit of news, really demonstrates the competency of this president and adds to his political capital. Perhaps this is just enough to move the nation past the Republican/Tea Party silliness we have seen these last few years.

I think this incident makes it much less likely that Republicans/Tea Partiers in Congress will feel strong enough to play Chicken with the national debt ceiling. And I think this is going to make the chances of a Republican in the White House in 2012 much less likely. I am sure there are a lot of Republicans/Tea Partiers waking up with a huge headache today.

But the bottom line is Bin Ladin's death is very good news for the world. The world is a little bit safer now that he is gone.

    Yes.

But if they did not say they accorded him a proper Muslim ermmm burial at sea at least, within the 24 hours, if they had danced on his corpse and paraded his body around for all and sundry to see for several days, or hacked of pieces for further analysis and identification, it would cause a bigger uproar.

I am not sure if the uproar will be that big in the ME. The man has the blood of many Muslims on his hands and frankly, it had become clear that they did not need him or to strike at the West to depose their despotic leaders.

I would imagine the reaction in the ME is a sigh of relief that the man who dragged their religion through the mud and back has finally paid for his numerous crimes and inflated ego with his life.

This won't be the end of the organisation he once led. But it is a symbolic victory and a giant 'fuck you' to his organisation. And to top it off, they have denied his supporters the ability to parade his body down the street in an open coffin while naming him a martyr.

I'm not happy they disposed of the body in the ocean so quickly. That's only going to fuel the CT. Now instead of birthers we'll have.... dead-heads?

    Well, Eric...

    Guantanamo Bay?

I'm disappointed. At first, I was hoping it said Giambattista Bee. That would probably make a lot more sense.

That's the point. They won't probe how it was possible. If they do, they will be ridiculed and dismissed as kooks. Isn't that what happened after 9/11. When a fishy told by the establishment is dissected, you are a nut. When is the last time you have seen a photo of this guy that you are positive was taken after 2001?

Well, the only term that I can think of is "plausible deniability" but I don't know that it's an accurate term for this. The definition may not encompass what has happened, but the term keeps cycling around my head.

    • All I know is that someone was killed, or declared dead, and it was bin Laden.
    • The body was badly injured, and possibly unrecognizable because of it.
    • I heard several hours after the President's speech, that it needed to be buried within 24 hours.
    • A half hour after that news break, I heard that it had already been delivered to a watery grave.

They wasted absolutely no time between declaring him dead, and declaring his body forever lost and unrecoverable at sea.

If they're looking to create a controversy, well they've accomplished that in spades.

Either audio, or video still shots with underlying audio track. That's about it.

And of course the comical bin Laden blaming America (the Great Satan) for causing Global Warming. Remember that? Bin Laden preaching about global warming. That was rich.

Didn't you take those, Mr. Photographer Man???? Do I have to spoon feed you your teleprompter lines?

Who is this unknown official? It was the army who killed him not this official so why are they not telling us who they are?

This place, Abbottabad , where they killed him, is over 1000 miles from the sea. Why not bury him there? So why didn't they take pictures of his dead body and blood samples to insure that it was really him? Many murder cases allow that a persons body not be buried until the autopsy is done which at times can take weeks. That's for any type of religion.

I'm sure the families that were left behind after the 9/11/01 twin tower explosions are feeling that justice has been done and I am as well if this is true.

Please do, 'cos I'm at a loss.
I mean, is it too much to ask for the whitehouse to put up some pictures on their website?
