In these situations doing too much can sometimes get you into deeper shit. A friend was threatened with a knife while walking home from a club, he beat up the mugger, but because the security footage skipped in 6 second intervals they didn't have enough to say it was self defence. The charge was raised to causing "permanent disfigurement" and he is facing the fact that he may have to kiss his law career goodbye. Most peaceful person you could ever meet, sadly he was a giant too, so arguing defencelessness is not really an option.

I wonder if someone had stepped in, would one of the scum try to sue? In the states it seems too easy.

Yeah, certain of the lawsuits demand that the state pay for them to have gender reassignment surgery, so that they can be transferred to a women's prison and no longer face the prospect of being a sex slave.

The really weird part is certain transsexuals that oppose these moves, because they have found boyfriends in prison and don't want to be broken up.

Yeah, I read somewhere recently that the majority of rape victims in the USA are males, largely due to the high incidence of prison rape. The sick part is that everyone knows that this goes on on a large scale - that such is an inevitable, systemic consequence of gender segregation - and most are actually okay with it. They seem to approve of it as some kind of deserved punishment. Which would maybe work if everyone sent to prison was convicted of rape (or worse), but in reality it's very disturbing.

I'm really sorry to hear about your friend...in the US though, the criminal charges might be gotten out of.

Civil suits have looser evidence standards here, though.

The last time I talked to my old coworker...he was facing such a lawsuit...

You see, these two huge young men tried to mug him in a supermarket parking lot...because they saw little old man.

What they didn't know was ex special-forces hand-to-hand combat instructor.

He had his concealed-carry .45 on him, could have shot both of them dead, instead he just broke their knees and beat the living crap out of them.
    Hey, he was being nice.

One of them did have a high-bore football scholarship...now he has permanently messed up knees. So he was suing.

My friend was really worried until he managed to get in contact with the arresting officer and got him to agree to come down from Dallas, where he lives now, to testify.

My buddy was the first one these fine young men hadn't succeeded in mugging, you see... the cops were looking for muggers matching their description.

OK-this is a topic deviation, if you want to start a thread about it elsewhere...I'm game...

Seriously...if you didn't segregate genders they'd rape women under the current system.

I think it's more about setting up a prison system that doesn't allow systematic degradation and violence of the inmates.

And this should be done because inflicting a degrading and violent environment on the criminals is going to make a lot of them worse.

I actually did notice a seeming willingness for people to forgo "their" gender-specific restroom for someone else in need, regardless of sex. Granted, most of these were single or double occupancy bathrooms, probably similar to what you're describing as "fully-enclosed little rooms". In the States, I have seen several people freak if a male / female was encountered exiting a small, fully enclosed bathroom. As in "WTF were you doing in the Women's room?" This occurs even in dirty rundown gas / petrol stations.

I just didn't encounter that in Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, etc. I also noticed a much more relaxed attitude towards people changing clothes in the rain or by the beach, from "street clothes" to complete nudity to "bathing suits". It simply didn't seem as "uptight", if you know what I mean. Could have been my own anecdotal experience(s), but all together I've spent several months in Western Europe. Don't know...

This I can't speak to. Probably shallow of me, but I simply did not pay attention. I will try to be more attentive to this aspect next time I cross the pond...

    Interesting stories.

    Oh, what the fuck.

When I was - eight, maybe? grade two or three - a kid in the eighth grade or something slammed me up against the wall of one of the school portables and held an Exacto knife to my throat. He said that I was bothering "his little friends" (not sure who these were, but there were a couple of little assholes that I sorted out at one point, so it could have been them) and that if I did it again he would cut my throat. I didn't cry - maybe I was in shock - but I think I said that I wasn't scared of him and he should just go ahead and do it. I don't know what he thought about that, because I couldn't see his face, but he was kind of looking around all antsy and then he just disappeared the blade and away he went. Year after that I really started growing, so that I was about as tall as my teacher by grade five or something. I think I told a teacher, but she blew it off and said that the kid just had learning problems or something. I think they might have moved him out that year or the next; don't remember, don't know why. I really wish I could find that douchebag in later life, and do something really, really unpleasant to him. That would be a barrel of fun.

Anyway, something off my chest. Please to enjoy; makes me feel good in a strange way. Some kind of sharing thing?

Maybe...but remember, the police are almost always second responders.
The first are almost universally going to be fools like me...

Bet that makes ya feel better about your next major car wreck, doesn't it?

    Drive careful.

Nowadays, the kid would end up being charged as an adult, or at the very least suspended.

Do you think blowing it off was better? or would you have rather had the kid nailed to the wall?
I would have rather the adults threw the book at the kid myself.
Because to not be protected in that case would have made me feel like nobody gave a crap about my safety, so why bother telling anyone about it?

Good points - I def think that the teacher actually fucking doing something would have been better. Still, what could she do? Hearsay, if she doesn't see it.

All in all, I'd still rather meet him in a dark alley to inflict some refreshers in social behaviour. Like, what happens when a badly beaten man calls out for help from passersby?

Where is "over here"? And a well-placed shot to the chest is a better bet than the legs. Dead scumbags don't sue you for violating their "rights".

Yeah, because those two chicks who attacked the "man" in that video will totally be okay with being in a bathroom full of men.

Maybe McDonalds should have the third "gender" restrooms as well. And maybe even one for bigoted rednecks.

Is that somewhere in the toilets, right? The girls were probably shocked to see someone with a penis in the ladies room, and got so pissed that they couldn't help themselves, and since nobody really bothered to stop them, they let their primitive rage free way.

I have a strong aversion towards fat chicks who go to McDonalds, and those girls who beat that woman, were fat and acting like raging chimpanzees. It's disgusting how everybody was just staring at those fat cunts beating someone for being "different". Whatever, I hope they get caught. It's been taped nicely, so their identity won't remain a mystery for too long.

On the plus side, if there's any brain damage then McDonalds can just make the woman a manager and she'll have a job for life.

I've never gotten so pissed that I hurt somebody physically. Broke things...mostly my own stuff.
If it wasn't mine, I replaced it.

I once got so pissed at a roommate I was able to lift the one end of a couch over my head...and the couch was a trash-picked special with boards in it to hold the cushions up.
There was also a rather small man sitting on said couch when I lifted the opposite end over my head...he got up and ran out of the apartment...

But I set the couch down and talked it out.
