Open source umbrella design - is it possible?

I suggest you get IPR on any of your prototypes before some thieving oppertunist steals your ideas, there are lots of people out therethat would jump at the oppertunity to gain more money in a fast way. I dabble in the inventing field a little but have lost passion for it completely. I can help you with your ideas though and maybe point you in the right direction with patents and IPR advice and laws i know them well.


Firstly you need blueprints for the design and not just some sketch on a piece of paper, you need details, dimensions, materials, cost etc etc. To have something be a "unique design" you need it to be novel and not a rip off of anything else. so first go and scan for replicas already existing in the market. I actualy had a brilliant idea for a sex toy for women and i still do and it's not trademarked yet either, I just object to it on moral reasons and i don't want to make money from this venture event hough I easily could rack up some million by next month if i wanted to.


The umbrella hat is already an invention so you cant have that, it doesnt open and its a shield stuck on a hat basicaly that does the obvious job of an umberalla and you dont have to open it or even hold it. but you maybe might fly off mary poppins style suddenly and be dragged through a tornado by your hair if it's on too tight.

Meh. While this is surely true, in my opinion most independent inventors who file patent applications are just wasting time and money. Not to be a downer, but you probably wont get a patent - or if you do, it probably won't be worth much.

Don't get me wrong, if you think you have something and you want to go for a patent then I wish you the best of luck. But I've seen way too many people come up with ideas that seemed pretty good, only to end up blowing a lot of money and ending up with either no patent, or an expensive patent that couldn't be solid/licensed.

I have no desire to pursue an inventors career, I just like tinkering with designs it's a hobby of mine (Well it used to be) I got into Electrical Engineering for this very reason and then later got very bored of it.


I wouldn't dare try getting IPR and promoting the thing i was refering too, it would go against everything i stand for and leave me a complete hypocrite.

But i don't mind the umberalla idea iw ill assist him with this.
