If not the Greatest General who ever graced a battlefield.

With around 100 victory's This man went from victory to victory and became a Living legend in his time, feared by Romans and Persians alike this man was something to be respected in times of war.

They call him the man who Re-Wrote the art of war, Totaly going against the standard 5:1 ratio generals used when directing any form of siege assault.

When the odd's were stacked against him he showed no fear and fought on-wards to claim victory. A man who gave away his spoils of war to the widows and orphans. A man who was not fighting for the sake of money and material wealth.

Without looking it up I can affirm that Khalid was indeed
an ever-victorious general who led Muslim-Arab armies at
the start of their 100-year long wave on conquest beginning
apprx. 640. I believe this era is known as the First Jihad
(defence against the Crusades was the Second Jihad).

Under his leadership Iran was completely conquered, and
the Byzantine Empire lost the Levant and Egypt, territory
which had been under European rule for over 600 years.

He was one of the Great Captains of history, and one of the
few whose victories resulted in permanent transformation of
vast tracts of land from one dominant cultural matrix to another.

Of course Whether his name and memory are to be blessed
depends entirely on one's religion and nationality.

The main strike against him may be his destruction of libraries
in Alexandria Egypt: he is supposed to have said that if the
manuscripts agreed with the Koran then they were redundant
and if they disagreed then they were wicked. It is possible
    this story is apocryphal.

He was the one responsible for the burning of the library? Khalid I will have to arm wrestle you when I get to jannah! I wanted to read those books ugh!.

I do howesver agree with what you just quoted Lol! such imaan i wish my faith was that strong someday. An honourable decision that is very blunt and harsh.

Salutes and dubs 'Hazrat Khalid the "The un-defeated"

    Alhamdulillah, Allah hu akbar!

Khalid almost certainly did not destroy the famous Great Library
of Alexandria founded by the Hellenistic Ptolemaic Dynasty ca. 300bce.

Here is an excellent source on the fate of that library, indicating
Julius Caesar is most likely to have been reponsible:

The Mysterious Fate of the Great Library of Alexandria

I cited the accusation because it was still possible for other books
to have been destroyed. Hopefully even that story is a legend but
    we can never know.

    On the library at Alexandria:

I've posted this before but it keeps popping up about once a year. I like the article above because it is well referenced

Something that fedr08 [I hope I am naming him correctly] said resounded very deeply with me. Upto Christianity, religion was both exclusivist and isolationist - the tribe did not admit outsiders and rejected outside beliefs and scriptures as well as outside knowledge. They also did not evangelise

Christianity was a transition religion, it rejected tribalism but embraced the notion of scriptural exclusivity. After Christianity, religions have become universal, they reject both the notion of exclusivity as well as the notion of isolationism - that is why you will not find Buddhists or Muslims burning libraries [while Christians are still burning books and bombing libraries].

Loosing the Library of Alexandria and House of Wisdom in Baghdad are indeed two of my least favored Historical events.

That aside, what is the contemporary evidence of Khalid Ibn walid outside of Islamic sources (Islam obviously coming along much later. It's not like Arabs thought of themselves as 'Muslims' at the time)? Obviously if Persians and Byzantine were getting their asses handed to them, there must be a plethora of contemporary first hand accounts of Khalid Ibn walid battles. Links to primary literature would be great.

** One thing that I was wondering about. I was under the impression that the Byzantine generally didn't fund a standing army outside of their capitol? I thought they usually paid mercenaries?

I know right, I seriously really want to get my hands on those books fromt he library, just the thought of all of those scrolls and texts makes me drool.

Khalid started off as an opponent to the prophet peace be upon him, He actualy wounded mohammed pbuh before he accepted islam and joined the cause for islam, He tried to kill him.

Im not too sure to be honest about the Byzantine merc situation I might have a dig around that in a little while you got me wiondering.

The contemporary evidence for him Seems to be all over the place It seems all sources agree with the islamic reports from what I have seen so far in my research I have not found any supported claims that deny any of Khalids achievements and records.

I have searched britanicca wikipedia and almost every link I can find thats half credible and I have come up with nothing refuting his awesomeness lol. the Caliphate actualy had to discharge Khalid for being "too good" (seriously) He was bringing people away from worship of god because he was so legendary people started to worship him, If I am not mistaken it was Umar and not abu bakr who told khalid basicaly "Look your too much of a invincible beast your going to have to quit the armed service and step down as commanding officer on the frontlines because people are starting to worship you and forget god is the one who gives you this awesome power in battle"

He broke 9 blades in a single skirmish and challenged all the champions to single dueling and slayed them all.

If you can find any obscure reports from the romans and the persians about him I would love to read them, I am studying this man as we speak so this is open books for me right now any input you can give on this man would be appreciated alot.

Oh and Khalid and his troops did class themselves as muslims on the battlefield after he accepted islam he was a proud muslim and he even preached while he fought the enemy and always gave the war cry "Allah Hu akbar I am the sword of allah Khalid ibn walid" His battle cry become notorious among the romans and persians and it inflicted serious impact upon the enemy morale when he chanted this war cry aloud on the field of battle.

    Peace be with you

I wonder how many people wanted to discredit khalid upon reading my praise worthy dedication to him, and then when they searched for hours to find anything to dicredit his awesomeness and came up empty-handed.

The best one could do was say "well he would get his ass kicked in a hypothetical fight"

XDXDXDXDXDXDXD I love it it increases my imaan just thinking about it, imaan high!!!

You claimed he was the greatest general ever.

That means you put down all the other generals.

Anyhoo. Alexander was not just a general. He was a king. A king who was the best commander in the field.

Khalid upon the request stepped down without a single objection and said "alhamdulilah" "All praise due to god"

He didn't ask people to worship him he was just so good at killing the enemy they started to have faith in him and rely on him too much.

If a footballer like Peli doe shis thing on the football pitch it's not his fault if he steals any glory from god and people start to praise him more than they praise god, im sure Peli didnt have the intention of "being so good at football that he will steal glory"

Also i have scanned your intentions and they are not honourable you are going to try and pick apart any little thing I say and use it against Khalid the un defeated sword of allah.

You cannot make him seem weak by attacking me, all you are doing is showing you have some motive than you are not ebign honest about. I am being honest about my intentions and they are that i think khalid did a good job and im patting him on the back witht his thread. but at the same time i have this to say.

    ALHAMDULILAH
