This question, at least IMO is really just a stupid trick question. It has almost nothing to do with math.
There's no trick in this question. "price" and "cost" are the same thing. The answer is $2. End of story.
The trick is, after getting this simple $2 question wrong on a test, is to somehow "prove" via the internet that the wrong answer given on test is the right answer.

DH is suggesting that deicider gave the wrong answer to this question on a test, and now he's out to prove that the wrong answer he gave was actually the right answer.
Or maybe he is suggesting that the right answer i gave is the wrong answer that this test deserves and not the right answer it needs.
There is no trick to the question, deicider just wasn't smart enough to figure it out on his own. His posts have shown he hasn't a clue how to solve it. Which is sad, since it is elementry algebra. Arthur
