Nope. I think you're being foolish if you think it's so innocuous. Are you offended if I'm offended at being called one? (Apparently, you are.) Can I decide if terms offend me? Am I allowed to think them offensive?

Unfortunately, there is an entire body of other - as you admit - extremists who like the term, and more importantly the supremacist ideas behind it, quite well.

No no, let's have some plausible discussion about the issue, since it is you that has introduced it. You claim the term is not offensive, but imply that Chi was defending himself or the like by using it. So, clearly it has negative connotations. Should I be attacked with it, since I have presumably attacked Chi? If the latter, how the former?

I suppose I should point out that we were all asked not to actually use the term?

I appreciate, as I have for some time, that you have little compunction about insulting me: I would go so far as to say that you have little hesitation in assigning negative personality traits to me at opportunity. I suppose I should give your opinion as a human being some value: yet I expect a little more than snide comments from someone in your position. I have given you my honest opinion: you have turned this into personal attack. Should I be surprised, somehow?

Your protestation that you don't know his predilections is not only believable, but not relevant. His philosophical bent - and, thereby, his meaning, in conjunction with his other comments - is not really in question.

I think I just said that I think he has a point. It might be remote, but maybe not. I'd like to see a follow-up, but examples might be hard to come by. One might use the slightly less offensive religious k-word, but would a censor filter discriminate between that and the much more offensive racial k-word? Well, probably not.

For it to come from anyone else and actually be meant as an insult would have to be under very specific circumstances. I'm hard-pressed to think of a situation in which someone other than an Islamic supremacist could use it for a non-Muslim. Since, clearly, you think this is actually quite a likely proposition, perhaps you could outline some scenarios in which it might plausibly occur?

I think you assume that I pay a lot of attention to the nuances of your outrage. I don't. It's not worth it, because it usually just seems to be the same thing. Note the issue: you've left off on what the k-word is about, religiously, and have now moved - probably irrevocably - onto me. Quadra's right: you have some kind of fixation on my comments or on me. As we discuss, it becomes less and less about the issue, and more and more about me.

Not at all. It's entirely possible for offense to have a legitimate basis. I don't like the k-word, because it's meant as offensive, as Muslim theologians seem to feel (see gustav's post above). You don't like people praying for you, because...you hate [some] theism or theists, even the innocuous kind?

Interesting. How would my actions - independent of you - be "foisting"? What's the connection between them and you? Am I assigning you negative values? Impugning your character? In what way would it damage you? Surely it wouldn't shake your belief system. Or does this derive from an issue you have with me, personally?
