Tell me, have is occurred to you that it could be the density of your head that causes gravity?

So you'll admit, if it ever comes to it, that you did alter the content of this thread? So how do you expect it to stand up as support for your claim?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that's all you're the father of. I dread to imagine how your children would turn out.

Soon be proven? You mean the proof that you said you could deliver two days ago?

Great. Scientists like a good laugh as much as anyone else.

    Of course it's significant.
It signifies that you're still fucking clueless and have learned absolutely nothing.

James, I think you should reassess your decision on banning John99.

if the moon does not cause the tides, then what does?

And if something else causes the tides then explain to me why the moon just so happens to line up with a high tide no matter when or where it happens.

Seriously, what is the probability that:
    1. The moon happens to orbit at the almost identical rate as the shift in tides.
    2. That the moon lines up perfectly with one the nearest high tide to it.

It would have to be astronomical.

Also, if the tides were caused by the earth's rotation, then would'nt there be permanent high tides on the eastern coasts and permanent low tides at the western?

And you apparently haven't read any science books.
    What's your point?

One does not need to read an entire thread of inane stupidity in order to declare that a patently erroneous claim is nothing more than that.

The Earth's core is significant to the tides? As far as it's mass, yes, the core is full of very dense elements.

You're assuming the earth is round. The Round Earth Theory is yet another one of those unproven and unsubstantiated theories that people like John99 can see right through.

I mean, I've been to China. I didn't fall off. It's self evident.

That's your argument? That it's a 'big' distance and a smaller mass? Someone provided you with the mathematics which showed the acceleration felt on the Earth as a result of such a mass at such a distance and you didn't even understand it, despite it being high school level stuff.

You've got to be satire, no one is so stupendously stupid as the persona you're trying to put forth.

Nor will I. I have a long standing policy that if the egg smells rotten, I don't even taste it, which I can apply to most of the threads you start.

I have. The difference is I comprehend it. Something you have utterly and miserably failed to do, Johnny boy...

While this is great fun, you are either a complete and total moron or are deliberately trolling - as well a flat out lying. Unless you plan on an extended vacation I'd go with the first option - moron. The Mods, including James, especially James, are not going to allow this to continue forever.

I predict imminent closure and cesspool. I don't think your "agreement" with James is going to protect you from banning either. In fact, you may very well be "sent" based on that agreement - a twist I imagine has failed to fire any neurons in your head. Note I said "head" not "brain" as the existence of such has yet to be proven. Do yourself a favor and give it up. Are you so insecure that you are unable to admit an error on an anonymous internet forum?

Your only other choice is to provide "proof" as you said you would... I implore you - no more circles around the bush. The same sources you are citing, the one's I provided you, state explicitly that the moon provides the overwhelmingly single greatest reason for the existence of tides here on Earth. Lunar tides. Period.

Now what's it going to be John? You're somewhat entertaining, so I hope you decide to stay. It's your choice though, and if you continue with the idiocy you will deserve what you get. Beyond all mercy or doubt. Choose wisely, John...

Why is this thread still open? Surely it should be cesspooled already..Maybe the mods are too busy laughing!

Moderator note: John99 has been banned from sciforums for 7 days for trolling and lying.

    -----

This is a lie. You have proven nothing. Please look up the word "proof" before making such claims again, or you will surely get yourself into more trouble.

And yet, accepted science says this is false.

It is insufficient for you to claim it is "too small" without specifying quantitatively how big it would have to be to effect tides. It is insufficient for you to claim it is "too far away" without specifying quantitatively how far away it would have to be to effect tides.

A proof in physics involves quantitative evidence for a claim. When you are trying to overturn a theory accepted by the vast majority of the scientific community, making empty claims won't cut the mustard. You must back them up with evidence.

Moreover, saying you will prove something then utterly failing to even begin to prove what you said you'd prove is intellectually dishonest.

Also, claiming to have alternative explanations or proofs and failing utterly to say what they are amounts to simple trolling.

Please think about these things, John, during your week away.

    You banned someone for "lying"...
Where is that in the rules?

This smells bad Jimmy. Not sure if that was a fair assessment of the argument. Is that what happens to people that lose an argument in the formal debate forum?

In James defence (as if he needs any) John was simply trolling. He promised evidence of an alternative theory and produced absolutely none. He also blatantly lied about known facts, so don't feel too bad for him. He had dozens of chances to prove himself, and couldn't.
