    oh bytheway, also, other lowsy stupid tricks, libya, provided the boats, for tunisian illigal travellers to italy, about 2000, so, italy said will send security forced to tunisia coasts to don't let illigal immigrants, anyway the goverment, so the people, said hell no, so italy will just give them some iquitements like boats and etc...

    small protestation, with no support from any party, infront of a synagog in tunis, saying hate words toward jews, another loosing card from the "hidden arms" who want to mess things up, the previous RCD, anyway, even the nahdha party of tunisia, the islamists party, condamned that job, also all people, tunisian jews are a part of the tunisian people, i think it was a try, to pollute the image of tunisia islamists, who are very tolerent, and enlightened, means, they are truly islamists, or, a loosing card, to try to make tension between jews, and muslims, wich, nope, pretty much didnt work at all

    protestations calling to rase the salaries and blablabla, as a way to make disturbs and make all people call for that, and take the country into a crisis, didnt work either, infact there was a protestations, that is against those kind of protestations

    FYI, the phrase in English is "hidden hands."

    It's both, when a government looses touch with the majority of it's citizens, that it must strong-arm the natural flow of events. Even the Brotherhood are not strong-arming the natural flow of events. Not at this point anyway. Way too many people watching.

    "... Libyan security forces launched overnight attacks on anti-government protesters seeking to emulate the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, increasing the death toll over five days of unrest to more than 170, Human Rights Watch said.

    The U.S. issued a travel warning for Libya, which has the largest crude oil reserves on the African continent, citing “violent clashes” in six cities in the east of the country including Benghazi. ...

    In Iran, one protester was shot dead in Tehran as thousands gathered in main squares in the Iranian capital and clashed with government supporters, Dubai-based Al Arabiya television said. ..."

    Billy T comment: Interesting the difference in US statements. One more killed in Iran brings sharp comment. Dozens killed each day* in Libyia, brings a travel warning (for Americans).

    * It is hard to tell true numbers or how they were killed as internet is shut down and foreign reporters banded, but some reports leaking out indicate heavy weapons and artillery shells fired into peaceful crowds. The Bloomberg link above includes such reports.

    To deny the populace information
    is to misinform the populace
    is to lie to the populace
    is to not have populace support
    is to lose leadership position

    Libyian spokes person on BBC says the army has been attacked by “separatists” some of who are intoxicated with drugs. The army was not properly trained for crowd control and as it protected itself, it did fire on the separatists and 14 were killed, but the press numbers of 350 etc. are pure fiction.

    Gadaffi's son says the they / the army / will protect the government "to the lasts bullet."

    BBC 1308 GMT: "Almost all major tribal leaders seem to have joined the opposition, as well as important religious leaders, and several senior Libyan ambassadors. The east of the country is already almost entirely out of the hands of the government."

    BBC 1310 GMT: "Prof Aref Ali Nayed, one of Libya's most senior religious leaders and a member of one of the major tribes in Libya, the Warfla tribe, has told the BBC World Service he now expects that the tribes will stand united against the government of Col Gaddafi in this crisis: "All the great tribes of Libya are united. The only thing that divided them was Gaddafi and his regime." ..."

    BBC 1317 GMT: " Several Libyan cities, including Benghazi and Sirte, have fallen to anti-government demonstrators following the defection of some army units, the International Federation for Human Rights has said, as quoted by AFP. The organisation put the death toll since the start of the uprising at between 300 and 400. ..." {BBC has shown photo of protesters riding on a tank.}

    BBC 2001: Ominous news from our colleagues over at BBC Monitoring: "'Libyan military source confirms orders were issued for the aerial bombardment of Benghazi within two hours,'" reported Al-Arabiya TV in an urgent screen caption at 1947 GMT."

    From BBC video: Two Libian Air force pilots reported to have landed in Malta, after being ordered to bomb civilians.

    Billy T comment:
    By local dawn, it probably will be clear that Libya has an asymmetric civil war in progress. The poorly armed Libyan population, vs., Gadaffi, his seven sons and a few thousand mercenaries they have hired and armed well, but significant fractions of the Army and Air force are refusing to fire on and bomb the protestors ( but others were willing to do so yesterday)

    “… Qaddafi has unequivocally declared his intention to massacre his own people,” said Shadi Hamid, director of research at the Brookings Doha Center in Qatar. “Time for the international community to intervene. For starters, NATO should enforce a no-fly zone over Libya. …

    Continued protests “will lead to civil war,” Qaddafi said, speaking from the house in the capital, Tripoli, where he was targeted by U.S. bombs in 1986 that killed his adopted daughter. He called the rebels “rats” and “microbes,” and said they will face death penalties for taking up arms against the state in an uprising whose “masterminds” are abroad. …”

    Billy T comment:
    Well let’s do it again. Easier this time as CIA has unmanned drones. Certainly killing Qaddafi to save many lives is as justified as killing many innocent Japanese to end WWII and save at least as many lives as the atomic bombs killed. Never thought I would say: Go CIA, Go Go – do some good for a change.

    Never works out that way. Statistically just as likely to succeed if we do nothing, seemingly.

    @Billy T

    What only to be accused of interfering with an internal affair? To be accused of 'regime change'? To validate the rumors that these regime change protests were really driven and influenced from outside?

    No. Why don't you suggest that the French or Chinese or British kill Qaddafi? Why ask the Americans when all you ever hear are complaints of american interference, use of troops in foreign lands, drone strikes that kill innocent civilians yadda yadda yadda?

    No just do the usual: State the US and its CIA had nothing to do with his house exploding. Only real probelm is that I think there is a US law against killing a head of state, but that is no problem too as US can claim that even if it had caused his house to explode (which of course it did not) Gaddafi was not a "head of state" when his house exploded.

    Next day by edit:
    If CIA does not take Gaddaffi out, then the US, with or without NATO, needs to immediately close the air space to Libyan planes as the BBC is reporting that Gaddaffi probably has poison gas they can drop. When he agreed to give up the nuclear weapons program, it appears he stocked up on poison gas as an alternative.

    The US closed the air space over Iraq for several years, in part because of Saddam's use of poison gas against Kurds, (but not its use against the Iranians in their 8 year war - the US not only approved of that, but provided Satellite photos of where there were large concentrations of Iranian troops near their disputed border. The US was still "pissed" about the Iranian holding of many US nationals during Jimmy Cater's term as POTUS.) It is better to close the barn door BEFORE the horse escapes.

    "... Libya's former interior minister said {to CNN} he resigned to support anti-government protesters, the Libyan government said he had been kidnapped.
    {details:}
    Abdul Fattah Younis al Abidi told CNN Wednesday that he resigned Monday after hearing that 300 unarmed civilians had been killed in Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city. He accused Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi of planning to attack civilians on a wide scale. But the same day, Libyan state media reported that "gangs" in Benghazi had kidnapped him. ..."

    -----------
    "AP - Militiamen loyal to Moammar Gadhafi clamped down in Tripoli, but cracks in his regime spread elsewhere across the nation, as the protest-fueled rebellion controlling much of eastern Libya claimed new gains closer to the capital. Two pilots let their warplane crash in the desert, parachuting to safety, rather than bomb an opposition-held city." - Quote from Yahoo.

    And why is it up to the United States to decide anything? Does the world belong to them or something? Are they the arbiters of global justice?

    No, just not willing to stand by (I hope) while hundreds (or perhaps soon thousands ?) of innocent people are killed for wanting to exercise the rights the US claims to support.

    For me, the US should either put up or shut up.
