1). The primate line was successful, regardless of the catastrophes that decimated the dinosaur populations. Thus proving the lines high resiliency.
2). Kepler mission is current, and revealing much more detail and evidence--many more habitable zones then realized in 2001 database.
3). Sentient beings of low stress, non-combatant cultures (no cultural variances from continental/geographical isolation) wouldn't be driven culturally to advance technically to rocket construction/space travel.
4)Habitable, single continent planets would generate a passive sentient population.
Habitable multi-continent, highly uplifted mountain-ranged planets would generate culturally isolated, sentient warrior cultures that would advance to rocketry, planetary orbital technologies, and space travel.

1&2 are facts. 3&4 are your speculations, but for example on 4,note that the American Indian tribe were effectively living on one continent (the great plains of the mid west) yet frequently at war with each other. Also note that until 1900, the Norwegians mainly lived in the valleys separated by tall mountains that were with deep snow cover more than 6 months yet had one culture and only made war (as Vikings) on other countries to steal goods they needed not on each other in the another valley.

On 3, my speculation would be the opposite: If freed from the cost of war, and like humans courious about their environment, they probably would explore any moons or other planets of their solar systems, etc. as well as the tallest mountains and deepest seas of their planet. Do you think need or desire to make war is what made man climb Mt Everest? or dive deed into ocean trenches in spherical vessels or struggle to get to the Earth's poles?

{NASA's Kepler space telescope } "... Researchers have found some 1,200 candidate-planets and, of them, about 54 are earth-size candidate planets in habitable zones - in other words, perhaps at a distance from their stars that may be suitable for life. Earlier this month officials at NASA announced the discovery of five probable planets about the size of Earth, as well as six larger than our planet that are orbiting a single star. ..."

Actually, #1 is not correct since there were of course no primates that existed when the K-T event occurred.

The best that can be said is that at least 1 species of dinosaur (bird) survived and at least 1 species of mammal survived.

based of of the evidence we have so far there is a 10% chance that each box will contain an egg

Its always 50%. May or may not.

    Fail. As usual.
What makes you think there's equal probabilities for each?

The perpetrator stated "may or may not"

And I repeat: what makes you think that each has an equal probability?

Of course they do. He said "may or may not" that is 50%. If he said 'does' then it would be 100% that one (or more) contains an egg. If he said 'does not' then 100% no box contains an egg.

    No.

    No.

Are you determined to demonstrate your ignorance on every single topic possible?

BTW I'm still waiting for an apology.

To say by 2015 we will have the james webb telescope and we will be able to analyse those planets atmospheres. To bad their aren't any other missions plannend due to budget cuts but who knows if these missions keep being this productive then theior might ones again be a budget for it.

You don't need to touch that thread. You accused me of talking out my arse when I said I could create the required diagram. I did so.
    Apology requested.

Your response could be "I apologise" either in this thread or by PM.

    Beside the point.
