What's going on in Egypt? - the answer is becoming clear: US military has long history (> 30 years) of friendly relations and support for the Egyptian military, and gives them more than a billion dollars annunally,* including the value directly given as equipment, spare parts etc. That is going to continue as Egypt becomes openly a military dictatorship (has been effecively one, the real power, for 50 years) Not only is Mubarak the former head of the Airforce, but ALL OF THE LAST FIVE LEADERS OF EGYPT HAVE BEEN GENERALS. The "transition" to a new more open (still millitary dictatorship) is well under way. All of the recent high level appointments are generals. Some of the prior civilians in high position of government have not only been removed, but have been expelled from Egypt, had their bank accounts frozen, their passports cancelled (or are under a "travel ban") and are being charged with crimes against Egypt.** They will be scapegoats offered up to the people. Again, real politic will win over US's high principles. Obama is still speaking of the need for "democracy" but will not cut the financial aid to the military. That is the ONLY thing that might make the military return to their behind the scene rule of Egypt. *Second only to the aid given to Israel. ** The / A ? former foreign minister is in UAE's Dubia and foolish telling this to CNN. He will be silenced, one way or another.

One, a Muslim caliphate that controls the Mideast and parts of Europe. Yes, Mubarak must go? So says Hillary Clinton, so says Obama...... Let see Egypt has a population of about 82 million give or take a mill. The best showing by the anti Mubark people, and being generous, is about 250,000 according to the news, but using the standard calculation of one person for every 2 sq. feet of space, Tahrir Square itself could probably hold a fairly dense crowd of around 100,000. Tahrir square doesn't have enough space to hold a Million people. So what is the actual percentage of anti government protesters in the Egyptian population? Well lets use the generous 250,00 protesters, that makes it .304% of the population.....who Want Mubarak gone, not even 1% of the population. And if we use the 100000 number that Tahrir Sq. Is capable of holding we get .121% of the population, and we are going to demand that Mubark step down? Let's get real here, Al Jazeera's estimate of a 1,000,000 protesters is fiction, and we don't need another Jimmy Carter/Obama-- Redux of Iran.
