    actually no
having a credible deterrence empowers one to say no and that is what cannot be allowed to stand.

    for instance, india...

Minimum Credible Deterrence is the principle on which India's nuclear doctrine is based.
It underlines no first use (NFU) with a second strike capability, and falls under minimal deterrence as opposed to mutually assured destruction

..sez.. fuck with me and i'll fuck you back

    Why would they?
No they are not quite a dictatorship, and there are no laws against ambition.
And of course the US is guilty of exactly the same against other people.
No, they have consistently denied that, and there is as yet no evidence whatsoever. Conversely, as to double standards, the US has what, about 10 000 nukes, Israel what, about 200? Furthermore the way more logical common sense conclusion if they were aspiring to nukes would be self defense against a hostile US/Israel with a proven track record of aggression.
Nations that US/NATO deem rogues, don`t have the luxury of choosing their friends.
You mean perhaps, they help freedom fighters shake off the yoke of occupation?
Uhm. Any WMD found in Iraq yet? Why is the US attacking everyone in their back yard? Are they next?
The enemy of democracy is the one waging ceaseless war on a global scale to impress its misplaced moral/economic values on to any nation that does not toe the line. That entity has convinced you that making war is peace, and you believe the lie. :m:

Don`t believe everything Hilary says. She is has an agenda, and you are wrong. "Theocratic Republic" is what it is. :m:

I made no reference to Hillary Clinton. You might want to look at what happened in the recent "election", when the opposition was widely arrested and often tortured, sometimes simply shot in the street by gangs of thugs on motorbikes.

happens in a lot of former soviet republics yet we don't refer to those as dictatorships

It might be an appropriate label.

I note that SAM has not condemned the killing of teenage homosexual boys for their sexuality.

Another direct question to SAM that I'm sure will be ignored, avoided or diverted to a tangent, without being answered:

Do you, SAM, think that the killing of homosexual people is acceptable? Do you support the Taliban in its killings of homosexual people?

    Enough Iranians.

"US best boy?" That guy was a major figure in the Revolution. That you'd adopt the dictator's discourse of accusing any influential liberal in Iran of being a US agent is not good on you. Who is going to take liberation rhetoric seriously coming from somebody who goes in for that kind of reactionary bullshit?

You'd do better to dispute the implication that dictatorship is grounds for foreign intervention (since that's what you seem interested in), instead of trying to swim against the current of the reality of the political situation in Iran. That would allow you to criticize both American neoimperialism and Iranian despotism, and so align much better with a liberal outlook (supposing that such is what you exhibit). Shilling for petty tyrants doesn't make for much of a platform to assail American arrogance, in the first place.

And that "Theocratic Republic" remains a hollow label - what you have is a military dictatorship headed by the Ayatollah and propped up by the Revolutionary Guards and their street thugs.

    By who`s estimation?
Yes, with blood on his hands.
Its fairly clear where colour revolutions originate no?
Iran is being set up as the next Iraq. Pressure to conform to arrogant US criteria is being applied in all possible ways. The mainstream media reflects such rhetoric and has been disseminating disinformation for so long now, its accepted as reality. The reality of the political situation in Iran reflects a resistance to such pressure. That still does not equate to a Dictatorship. Iran chooses not to conform to arrogant and unrealistic demands, and is thus painted as a rogue dictatorship with nuclear ambitions that supports terrorism. Both major accusers are armed to the teeth with nukes and have a known track record of vicious, illegal and criminal aggression and human rights abuses that have been exposed time and again. Its all on the public record. Yet Iran is the danger. Incredible. :m:
As hollow a label as the US standing for freedom and democracy. :m:

Can you show me an example where Iran has allowed its own media to criticize the state or the state religion, in a similar manner to the level of criticism and million-man marches permitted in the US and Britain? Can Christian demonstrators go marching around Revolution Square chanting for a Christian theocracy like Muslims can do at Trafalgar?

Concisely, whatever "freedoms" and customs are existent in a nation, force is a totally and utterly unacceptable and illegal strategy to employ in order to generate change.

Further, the anti Iran rhetoric has nothing whatsoever to do with human rights and freedoms, it has all to do with foreign policy agendas in the same vein as Afghanistan and Iraq.

In Afghanistan, that was hailed as a "successful" election. In Saudi Arabia, they don't even have elections. In Israel, they don't recognise the indigenous peoples as having the right to suffrage unless they are Jews or demographically within a dubious border [note that same rules do not apply to foreign Jews outside those same "borders"]

So what makes Iran worse than these "allies"?
