it seems you cherry-picked the last post, just like the previous one and ignored (again) what i was really saying so that you could continue to plug your comparison.

my statement from the previous post:

that's unfortunate you have to belittle china just because it's not spectacular to you. how do i know? because i wasn't making the argument you are pretending. YOU want to make sure it's loud and clear to everyone that this is nothing new as the op is trying to make it seem. i never said it was new technology or some breakthrough. i know something about computers, pompous jerk. i also know it's not on the same league to the possibilities of quantum computing. i was just stating it's great they are building their country and doing what they can. i still don't understand why you pretend i'm arguing that china is leading in innovation. i stated that is not the case but perhaps they "could" or "would" innovate in the future and i disagree with you that it's not possible. you seem somehow upset that i even stated that. if you think they can't, then so be it.

of course, i didn't mean they were literally "your" chips or billions of chips. you don't think i know that computer chips are owned by a company and not you? are you that dense?

when i say they should be commended is an overall issue and that is they are trying to do the best they can. it was a poor country and they are trying to better themselves. i suppose it would make you feel better if they just did nothing.

but you seem to want to belittle their efforts.

It seems we have a dichotomy between the US "we rule the world" gang and the "hell, we can do it too" gang! Shame, shame..
Monopolsing a market, in biological terms, weakens the gene pool. Lack of lateral thinking/creative thinking tighens a brand, but starves it in the long run. Ok enough with the metaphors..It's not healthy.
Quantum processors might be the next big thing, but have you any idea how fast a quantum core is gonna wear out? I need processors that are long lived and reliable. Quantum processor models so far degrade so fast I can't see the advantage - so what next?

the attitude of the likes of fed8 absolutely disgusts me. his attitude reminds me of a crass, bigoted, arrogant redneck!

like all this crap came out of nowhere below and had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with my post. he mentioned something about the dna of asians or indians which i never stated anything about, jews being cheap and other random gibberish. i never stated that china was better in the tech sector either! i just stated a general compliment! they are just HORRIBLE!

It has to be said, the world is definately not fair, that much is true. There's no denying that. It also has to be said that the prosperous prosper - it does'nt really matter who's right and who's wrong. If Intel want to furnish the US govt with the next class of processor, they will. Not for the money so much as the cudos. Though money helps. It's the likes of you and me that pay in the end..I'm running a quad core I've had for a year and you know what? I've had my money's worth already. That, my friend is the bottom line. If they can keep that up, well, the sky is the limit.

threads like this tend to expose the issues between countries and that most adults are not truly mature either. it's like pissing or d*ck measuring contests. it exposes the pettiness, the egoism, and the typical 'i'm better than you' stuff. it's the same attitudes you witnessed in grade school.

the statement that china "could" innovate in the future means just that. also, "future" signifies an indefinite time. it doesn't mean tomorrow or the next decade.

I'm now too drunk to give you a satisfactory reply, save to say that Egotism plays a big part where our US friends are involved. You can't blame them though, they're raised to think they "whoop ass" in every concievable field. This seems to be a vital part of thier national conciousness, and as they are taught this from an early age, they are not individually at fault. Although it pisses the rest of the world off, and they can't help but make enemies everywhere they go, you should remember it's not thier fault, ok?

ewww. and the result of that is pretty disgusting actually. ugly-hearted.

it is their fuking fault. it's just gross. they've got all the physical stuff down and material comforts but their attitude stinks. it's ironicly inferior in some way.

Maybe that's a topic for another thread, Birch..I'm not here to dissect the US conciousness, hell, that's just too easy. I like a fair fight, even if I am slightly intoxicated..
When all is said and done, time will out. Maybe the industrious Japs have a trick up thier sleeve, they've been very quiet..Too quiet maybe..

Ps. You have to give our US friends some credit..If it wasn't for the likes of Intel, AMD and the guys that brought us Napster (iTunes), Facebook and Google the computerised world would be a very different place.

poor excuse! that's what they use to beat and berate other with all the damn time.

so if one teaches a man to fish, one berates their efforts because they taught them? at least they are fishing or trying to do better!

no one claimed on this thread this was new technology, just paid a damn compliment!

Now come on, fair's fair. The yanks have done some outstanding work, and reseach. It doesn't mean you have to like 'em personally..But the fruits of thier labours are there for all to see. Yeah they've got thier faults, but like I said, this is another issue. And anyway, who isn't a little idiosynchratic and dysfunctional?

    follow the damn thread.

i merely stated over and over and over again (because i had to!) that they may innovate or might innovate in the future!!!

someone else took that to mean pulling into the lead, that's because that is exactly what their issue is!

i also never claimed any of the things i was accused of in this thread. i never said that it was new technology or their tech sector is better, that they will "definitely" pull into the lead or they definitely can't. i don't give a shit in the manner they do. they are so controlling. i just think it would be nice for them or other countries to innovate too in however way they can! also, in the future they may.

their attitude is shit and frankly lowbrow, narrow-minded and self-centered!!

What? And I'm off-thread? Look. I'm not defending the character of the Yanks, they are plenty able to do that themselves. But ranting on isn't gonna help..It's getting light and I've still got beer to drink and, whats more, the dog is in my bed! I don't know what I can say that is constructive so I guess it's time to call it a day. Catch you on the flip-side..

I'm Chinese, good for China. Then what,it has nothing with me as a 24 years old Chinese.I still use Win7 installed in my Dell desktop.
Ordinary Chinese people rarely pay much attention to those "China Leads" issues,we focus on the house price, money to earn, life to enjoy things.
And it's funny to see people from other countries judging our politics and our attitude like they are us or they're saving us from hell.
I want to say if I'm in hell then hell let it be,I'm f**king enjoy it.
Then what? my mind was brainwashed by the CCP? So funny!

Don't take it to heart...national pride is a strange thing and people often take positions that they cannot always justify. I am English and we have good relations with China. Rural China still has a long way to go - if they even want to go..by the standards of the west..This really is a political question, and if you want to start a new thread, that would be best. It is possible your friends' IP was hijacked by a spammer - it is not unknown. You should be proud that China is viewed as a potential threat...the worst thing would be to not matter. The Mods here are quite lenient in some respects and I am confident your friend would not have been banned without good reason, but I cannot answer for them - It would be better to contact them directly.

Hey,seems you read my thread. BTW,I do not know how you know I have a friend here?I just got this site by serching "Evil China" at Google, and there is a topic(it says I shoud post above 20 to post a link ) links me here.
Then I randomly clicked the ban list seeing something I'm not glad with. I'm Ok with ban account because they do spammer,do I say something good for "My friend",why you say that much about that? Let me tell you,"My Friends'" IP was not hijacked, they got banned because they do something not nice,do not trying to say"unknown",my cute English friend. What they've done has nothing to do with me,do you really understand my thread? I'm sorry my English is not that good which mislead you,but please go and read my thread again and then talk you shit with me.
Oh,potential threat again,I want to be rich so I should feel guilty for want to be rich.

Than what exactly were you arguing. You seem to have branded me as someone trying to belittle China. On the contrary I am belittling people that think that what China did was in any way ground breaking or impressive. It really wasn't.

Fold@home is far more impressive than that supercomputer. I honestly would be impressed if China built this computer with their own chips and actually designed the architecture on those chips. The vast majority of the difficulty in building a computer is actually designing the chip.

    Like what? The on button?

There seems to be the general consensus of anyone in the 50th-80th percentile of computer fluency that just because they can turn the machine on, run a script, and install a program that they are instantly fluent in how a computer actually works.

And by the way, this isn't a breakthrough.

I'm pompous because I am right. In no way is this supercomputer indicative of China's improving ability to innovate. Its more indicative of America's ability to continually release newer and more ground breaking chip designs.

What do you base the argument that they could realistically in the next decade or two on? Reporters? Newspapers? Writers that don't even know half of what they are saying? And if they do they have to dumb it down so that the lay man can come close to understanding it?

You don't understand what I am saying. In order for China to start designing chips they will need to start from scratch and work their way up. If China really put in a massive amount of effort they might, and I stress 'might', actually have a chip on par with my 480 seven to ten years.

The problem China faces is that the competition for better chips is like a foot race. What makes it so special is that the complexity means that there are few shortcuts. You can't just take another country's research and slingshot you close to the front so you dont have to start from the end. China joining the chip race is like a foot race with several runners at the 7 mile mark. China would be like a runner starting at the half mile mark and plus, that runner is not nearly as good nor as experienced as the runners at the very front. Just to get caught up to our level at this moment right now will take a long, and I stress LONG, time. and by that time we would still be so far in front.

I think that we are imagining that those two gangs exist.

Whenever this kind of thread comes up a bunch of people say things like "sweet, China is taking the lead, good job"

And when people like me snap them out of reality by saying "China didn't really invent those chips they just bought them." We then get branded as Amerifreaks and China haters.

You cannot disagree in this kind of thread without being labelled as an enemy. It is really pretty annoying. I am a realist, yet when I point out the flaws in what China did and why it really isn't innovated I'm branded as a bad guy.

I wasn't even talking to you about that. I was taking apart the argument that asians are inherently smart at school by stating how one's ethnicity through dumb luck is silly and misinformed. Your ethnicity does not determine one's intelligence anymore than it determines what your likes and dislikes are.

Your the bigot. You keep imagining I say things I don't. Putting words into my mouth.

That post was literally purpose made to attack stereotypes while indirectly taking apart the idea of prejudices of bigotry.

You are a liar, you put words into my mouth. If you honestly did not understand that post which was of 10th grade complexity then this is not the forum for you.

If you honestly think every post I make is dedicated to you and if you honestly you believe your that important than you need to get your head out of your ass and think.

What in my entire post is offensive in ANY WAY?

I never implied anything wrong with anything I said.

Your just another phobe that thinks that if one uses the word: Jew, Islam, Muslim, terrorist, etc... is inherently offensive.

For all you know ANYONE can have the lead.

    So what?

You have not actually added anything of any sort of substance to this thread other than proving your lack of knowledge especially in computing and overall lack of ethics shown in you twisting other people's words to fit your argument.

Were not morons, no one here is fooled by what your doing.
