    This article says 276 BCE:

In the index legion, it refers us to the Suda as its source. Hm. Look where this comes from - 10C!
^ The Suda states that he was born in the 126th Olympiad, (276–272 BC).

    Re Suda datings:

This is not proof, being 1300 years later, and can be a result of doctoring.

I gave solid reasons why we cannot take anything from Europe as concrete in the absence of actual proof. The Hebrew is a different threshold altogether - there is no writings which exist with more proof than the Hebrew bible - over 70% has already been scientifically proven, including a 3000 year figure as David: what can match that?

there are slews of archeological and written proof and no you didn't give any reasons let alone solid reasons.
except actual history disproves most of it.
lots of things considering that 70% mark is bullshit. you can quote all the bullshit archeology that trys to fit the finds with the bible but that doesn't mean it was proven.

I did give reasons. Now I want to see how the Suda is a credible source for judgements of events 14oo years previously - because there is a history of lies and what cannot be proven from here. Its not a big ask: some writings prove even 3000 year figures. You sound like one who believes in the Protocols - also from Europe. Take a double dose of your meds tonight.

The Greek civilisation was advanced. It had famous poets, playwrights, scientists, historians and philosophers. Dates appear in many ancient Greek writings, and many of those writings have been copied over and over so that they are still available to us today in their original forms. Many dates are confirmed by independent archaeological evidence as well, and in the writings of contemporary civilisations that interacted with the Greek civilisation.

In short, the Greek civilisation is extraordinarily well documented. To deny the established birth and death dates of a famous figure such as Eratosthenes is like the act of child sticking its fingers in its ears and saying "la la la I can't hear you".

Why are you so keen to deny well-documented historical and scientific fact, IamJoseph? Is it because it so often disproves your beloved Genesis?

How much longer do we have to put up with IamJ? Moderating his ridiculous and inflammatory posts is getting to be a full-time job.
