You still haven't presented any proof that this is racially-motivated. How about the Swift Boat Veterans who were targeting Kerry's military service? Were they biased against people of Irish descent or Jews? How about the people targeting Bush's alleged AWOL status from the Air National Guard? Or Clinton's alleged draft-dodging? Or Al Gore's alleged shortened enlistment term in Vietnam. Were they racist against white people? What about Clarence Thomas's critics during the Anita Hill scandal? Were they racist against black people? Clinton's critics during his various sexual scandals? Racism? I think that this Obama situation as well as the examples I gave were more likely to be "politics as usual" rather than anything racist for most of the people involved.
So all the people complaining about Bush's tendency to increase the size and influence of government while looking the other way when Obama does the same thing are actually racist against white people?
You sound completely clueless about the history of racism in the US, as well as the recent incitement of racist feelings by the radical right. Can you give me one example of anyone on the right killing Bush in effigy for his spending?
You're proving my point that it's about politics rather than race. A lot of Republicans looked the other way when Bush was increasing the size of government and spending like a drunk sailor. A lot of people on the left are looking the other way while Obama is doing it now even though they were screaming bloody murder about government spending and "fascism" while Bush was in office. It's hypocrisy to be sure, but racism? Not so sure about that.
No, the left was worried about tax cuts for the rich and billions on two wars, the unfunded mandate of "no child left behind", not social spending. Anyway, Bush hadn't ruined the economy yet, and stimulus spending is how you get out of it. No one on the right cared about Bush's spending because their outrage is phoney.
The left generally only worries about the size and cost of government when it's for things conservatives want. The right generally only worries about the size and cost of government when it's for things that liberals want. Still not seeing how that's racist...
No? Remember when they were burning effigies of Hillary Clinton over her health care bill? What about the Pailin t-shirts saying 'Pailin isn't a cunt, cunt's are useful!'? As far as the Obama game I believe the Alien insinuation can be taken as him not being american or his openness on the illegal alien issue. Americans have always been rude and downright hostile in expressing their political displeasure. Too bad that no matter what criticism there is of Obama others will call the critics 'racist'. No one called anyone anything when they were burning H. Clinton in effigy. Just look at the popular ditty printed in newspapers during Thomas Jefferson's presidency: Of all the damsels on the green, On mountain, or in valley, A lass so luscious ne’er was seen, As Monticellian Sally. Yankee Doodle, who’s the noodle? What wife were half so handy? To breed a flock of slaves for stock, The blackamoor’s the dandy. 1804 cartoon of Jefferson as the "Philosophic Cock". Both him and Sally appear as fowls. http://franceshunter.wordpress.com/...erson-part-ii-lewis-tall-tom-and-dusky-sally/
It's all part of a racist pattern on the right. Even if this particular incident wasn't racist, I believe the atmosphere that led to it's creation is at least partially racially motivated.
For some maybe but how are we to read people's minds and know who is racist and who is not? There are those who criticize him because he's liberal, because he's a democrat, because they think he's a socialist, or because they dislike his health care bill and fiscal plan. All of these come into play and that Obama image seems more political than racist. I think it has to do with his stance on illegal immigration and health care. Its an attack on his administration. What were they supposed to do? Not show the image with dark skin? Like I said they had a Hillary head that people set on fire and I didn't hear much complaint about that save that it was an 'irrational fear'. The fact that everything that is said about Obama from either side hinges on race shows that the country at large cannot escape race, doesn't mean the image itself is racist. If he were of Chinese descent and they had an image with slanted eyes holding his liberal health care bill and placed horns on his head you would see it racist. If it were a Mr. Clinton image holding a health care bill in one hand and had his fly open with a cigar hanging out and two erect penises on his head you wouldn't see it as racist at all even though its the same exact rude image.
What's your point? That you are ignorant of history? If a white man were shot and strung up on a tree, it's probably not racism. If a black man were shot and strung up on a tree, it probably is.
LOL! No one has hung Obama up on a tree! See? I am not ignorant of history at all. All that is being shown is a rude political satire where you can go and take your shot at him. When they burned effigies of Clinton I didn't think it was because she was a woman, I thought they were doing it because it was Hilary and their sentiments towards her and her health care suggestions. Your reason is failing a little with this: " If a white man were shot and strung up on a tree, it's probably not racism. If a black man were shot and strung up on a tree, it probably is." Because its okay to shoot a white man and hang him on a tree? The cardboard image shown doesn't have a tree in the background. Are you suggesting that its okay to be critical and outrageous when it comes to white politicians but any attack on a black one is racist? I find that notion particularly racist. It suggests that there should be two separate standards for whites and blacks. What if it were a black man who kills a white one? Would that be racist? Or is it only racist if its a white one killing a black one?
@Spigergoat To tell you the truth it is only you who suggested that the image equates to 'kill the darkie'. Didn't see that in the image itself. Murder is murder no matter what the color of the victim and political satire is just that no matter the color of the president.
you mean she is ignoring history to further her racist agenda Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! lucysnow: thats just ruuude! easy enough will you allow obama the other half of his biological heritage? his 50 drops? will you call him a white man? thought not racist!
You might think that if you ignored the context of the racist comments of the teabaggers, the birthers, the anti-immigrant rhetoric, the righty cable news punditry, and Brietbart's unfounded racial attack on Shirly Sherrod.
Agreed. What I think they should do is simply raise the bar for punishing criminals in general. Violent criminals should be put down the first time they commit a crime like a wild dog. That's basically all they are, I'm sick of criminals trying to make themselves out to be the victim by crying broken home and all that. This way there's no difference in punishment between a crime committed out of racial hatred vs a crime committed out of some other form of malice.
again a despicable apologist for racism crimes motivated by bias is an aggravating circumstance and carries higher penalties in almost all civilized societies
