officers do have the right to use force...

and to be honest id rather get punched in the face 50 times before i got maced or tazed did both at a my officer buddies training and god damn they suck more than you can imagine

The can use "reasonable" force but it seems that in this case he went "overboard" by striking her in the face. This is my opinion but perhaps we will find out what will happen to him in the weeks ahead when they investigate this matter.

 

Hmm clearly its wrong. He shouldn't have hit her in the face, he should have shot her in the head. The cop is clearly defending himself.

 

She was physically fighting him and got what she deserved, in my opinion.

He didn't need to punch her in the face... clearly he had an edge already as far as strength goes. Why couldn't he have just forced her on the ground and handcuffed her?

Because that male cop was in no life danger from a 17 year old female. These people are human beings, not prisoners, not terriost, not crimanls. Cops can do whatever they want. They are the states protecters and the indivsiuals abusers.
She didnt have a weopan, and she was defending her rights as a HUMAN BEING to not be physicaly assualted even if its by a police officer.

Me? I was hit by a woman before, and I just took it. Plus, "initiation" is subject to discussion. This woman did not hit the officer, she resisted, that's true. And the officer lost his temper and reached a quick conclusion that if she is resisting he has right to hit her. Sorry, it's unacceptable by my standards.

 

You do realize that the police have the right to restrain people, don't you? If he had jumped out of his car and immediately started throwing punches, I'd agree with you. But I'm guessing that wasn't the case...
