Yep; personal experience, common sense and evolution. Yes, punk musicians, which make up a tiny fraction of the human population.
Sorry, those "examples" listed dont offer me any solid proof of any sort. That wasnt what was being contested
you're wrong on so many levels. first of all, it has to do with culture, not age. and in our culture, while a maturity other than physical is debatable, conformity usually is not (unfortunately). not everyone can be a rock star, or an artist. young people just typically have more freedom (in some ways) than we old folks do. secondly, fashion is absolutely a product of culture. glam rock becoming a part of the mainstream in the seventies; a rather recent trend that hasn't gone away. thirdly, while it's accepted, even expected, for women to wear a certain amount of makeup that typically hide flaws and enhance natural beauty, men wear it for fun (fashion), it exaggerates not hides, and is not widely accepted. so your idea that men wear makeup because they're insecure doesn't add up. women maybe, but men, no. they're saying, "this is me. this is the way i like to look. and if you don't like it, fuck off." and i like that attitude. I have worn makeup on quite a few occasions. Being that i was in commercials and on t.v (from an early age) it didnt really mean anything to me. So i could care less. Not really into it now but then i would use it if i was up late and had circles. Same for mud facials. Who cares?
It is pretty gay (no offense to homosexuals). Though that doesn't mean you can't take care of yourself; I exfoliate; I get my eyebrows done; I take care of my looks. But makeup? That's just too far. It's not manly.
You have many stipulations and qualifiers there. Thats like 'i paint my fingernails but not my toenails' or 'i have my right ear pierced but not my left ear'. I cant be concerned with reading some rule book on this subject.
i've known more straight guys that wear makeup than gay guys that do. however, i did accompany a gay friend to a duran duran show, and he sported electric blue eyeliner. he didn't wear the eyeliner because he's gay. he wore it because he was at a duran duran show, and it was entirely appropriate. and he looked damn good. different scenario, say average joe is taking his girlfriend to a duran duran show, and she says, "hey, let me put some electric blue eyeliner on you honey! it'll be great!" and average joe is instantly mortified by the thought of some moron thinking he's gay because he's wearing eyeliner and says, "hell no." OMG some moron thinks i'm gay because i'm wearing eyeliner! get it? THAT is insecurity.
That's theatrical make-up and that isn't the same. I wear theatrical make-up on stage, but that's not make-up for women. It's not the same.
It depends. Makeup for being on stage is different from makeup being in front of a camera. Sometimes they just touch up around the eyes and cover up some blemishes. I did the same for awhile in my early 20's when i would go out and wanted to look my best. I dont see anything wrong with it at all. However, now i am completely natural and dont even use deodorant or shaving cream etc. I only use brown soap too.
Not really. People have told me i smell but then if it is from sweating i dont really care too much. TBH, if i didnt have a gf i would take showers two or three times a week but now to put on a front i take showers every day except i brush my teeth every day. I used to use only baking soda or salt if i had none but now i like Toms.
No I don't. Its called first impressions. And what old, fat, white boys club are you talking about???
the guys that own everything and tell everybody what to do, and how they should look, and so on... first impressions? i think it looks cool, and wouldn't even consider that it might have some effect on their ability to perform a job. why would it? ironic...a guy with a comb-over giving a weird look to a guy with a mohawk.
