During the presidency of Ronald Reagan, energy-research funding in the U.S. was dramatically cut. Funding fell for research such as Oak Ridge's biofuel, magnetic-fusion and electric-car projects.

National labs retrenched. Some continued defense projects...yeah SDI.. steal from Peter to pay Paul

you won't find much.. you do understand what classified means ..don't you

I'm not going to spoon feed you .. I've seen too many threads where you have been shot down big time then run off.. there's that

You can't spoon feed me, because you don't have the spoon.

Again, can you show a written policy to implement what you are claiming?

There have ben decades of new funding after Reagan to research those projects, and guess what, they still are not viable, Fusion, Hydrogen or Bio, billions of dollars spent after Reagan left office under new Presidents, both Republican and Democrats and they still haven't been perfected.

So again can you show a written policy that was implemented to cut your funding?

That is what you are really pissed about, you lost your place at the government feeding trough, because you couldn't deliver.

Oh no I left on my own .. nice try.. i did know a number of folks who had to transfer over to weapons research to stay as you say on the feeding trough

It's not my funding .. it was our funding "the country's" .. Reagan's pipe dream tapped into money that would of help break our present dependency on oil.

Look it up yourself... I don't do things for those I consider to be traitors to this country.
is that spelled out well enough for you .. do you get it? Or have they already pulled the power plug in your neck of the woods.. great logic there too

Yes, I have you, the rhetoric from you has hit a new all time low.

    But you don't need to have hyper clearances to find out that others succeeded where you failed;

    http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=7168

Navy Heats Up Cold Fusion Hopes - A recently published academic paper from the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (Spawar) in San Diego throws cold water on skeptics of cold fusion. The article claims that Spawar scientists have achieved a low energy nuclear reaction (LERN) that can be replicated and verified by the scientific community. (DailyTech; May 5, 2007)

    http://www.zpenergy.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2292

Navy Discovers Cold Fusion (again) - The Navy back in 2002 published two volumes in support of cold fusion. Now, Navy researchers from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center have published an article in the respected journal Naturwissenschaften, claiming an experiment that is highly reproducible and demonstrates nuclear reactions. (ZPEnergy; Mar. 27, 2007)

    http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg19325913.900-tabletop-fusion-back-with-a-pop.html

Cold Fusion Scientist Exonerated - the scientist who discovered a possible cold fusion reaction by bombarding a solvent with neutrons and sonic waves has recently been exonerated of accusations of scientific misconduct following the verification of his results by another scientist. (New Scientist; Feb. 19, 2007)

Successful Cold Fusion Replication - Researchers in Boulder Colorado report 1.3 to 1.4 more energy out than was put into the system, replicating an experimental procedure described in a paper presented at the ICCF12 meeting in Japan last November. (JLN Labs; Mar. 20, 2006)

And I didn't even have to use my clearances.

you have nothing .. how does this relate to Reagan cutting funding to the labs.

How do you figure "I" failed .. it was Reagan who failed the country's future needs.
Pushed everything back .. we would already have clean unlimited power ...NOW

Had he not played sabre rattling with the USSR .. oh yeah now you'll tell me how he single-handedly brought down the Iron Curtain. You forget how far they were ahead of the US in High energy physics then .. they saw right thru the SDI bluff buff

Good thing for the feeding trough with the Navy.. How many more decades??

Not all the oil floats, in addition to the natural dispersal quite a bit has been deliberately dispersed throughout the water column using various ugly chemicals.

Also, some fraction of even the floating oil enters the pelagic food chain, and is transferred to all parts and depths of the nearby ocean ingested in animals - some of the toxic components concentrated as they move up the food chain, some just concentrated in the ingesting organism (oysters, other filter feeders).

I believe eating seafood of that area will cause liver cancer.
It is too big price to pay for.

    Oil leak at Mexico Gulf

One good opportunity arises with this ecological disaster. The global warming deniers can now end the phony "debate" and no one will blame them for that.

Then why did you bring this into the debate?

    Take your own advise.

I tried but you started trolling because the truth was brought out about how Ronald Reagan cut energy funding that would of help of get off oil.

Then you start making it personal towards me and also post some unrelated cold fusion links 25+ years later like it proving a point .. yeah the Navy is on a welfare feeding trough.

If Reagan had any Vision what so ever he wouldn't of done what he did. It's not like I mentioned how Bush and Cheney were in bed with the oil companies, because most people here are very aware of that.

    so as another posters says...FU

Yet again, you have failed to provide any proof of policy by Reagan or the Government to cut your funding to shift it to SDI.

The reason your funding was cut was because you didn't deliver any viable results.

SDI systems require tremendous amounts of energy to operate, and cold fusion would deliver that power, so again you are blowing smoke about why you lost your funding, and laying down a Red Herring.

And what does this have to do with global warming?

The world runs on oil, it's economy is based on oil, almost every product involves the use of oil in it's manufacture, make up, or movement.

Every major global warming theory had been busted over, falsified data, deleted data, lack of data. or to small of a test set of data.

Cherry picked reporting station, or like Canada, 550+ of 600 stations never entered into the data model, or like the Hockey Stick which fails the Monty Carlo test, or like the CRU which uses neat tricks to hide the temperature decline.

Global warming orthodoxy, we are suppose to believe the global warming orthodoxy on faith in their models which have been continually proven to be based on inadequate and manipulated data.

    I agree.

oil got polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and those cause cancer in such large amounts as the spill.

    source: http://www.idph.state.il.us/envhealth/factsheets/polycyclicaromatichydrocarbons.htm

Funny thing is...Texas has so many extremely obese people already and now this...I am seeing a decline in population in Texas in future for sure.
