LOTR would have been even better if they'd given Legolas a skateboard.

Anyway, what is it with North Americans? Can't stand the books. Too hard to get through. The wife's the same way. Ohh, I just can't read this any more, it makes my brain hurt. And she's reading this Snookie Smokehouse shit or whatever the hell it is: Ohh, I just love these books, they're the best written ever, it makes my heart hurt. What a load of shit. Sad author with a carry-on adolescent vampire fetish. Well that hasn't been done before. How new it all is! Bah! I've read that crap, and it approximates what I was writing when I was in bloody high school: a posting board for clunky adolescent angst. Throw in a spaceman with a raygun and have him dogfight a vampire in mid-flight with his fancy rocket ship! Bah!

This poll shows the true age of those posting here. I can't see how anyone who was a kid in the 80's would vote for LOTR. It's a great trilogy, but it can't fuck with Vader and Luke.

    Pfft.

Next your going to say you couldn't read the Silmarillion.

Hey - quit generalizing you Albionese intransigent !

Must be it's a SciMod thing...
    :mufc:

    eh.

All 6 of those Star Wars flicks were pretty friggin' idiotic.

I mean - just for starters - they can build a starship the size of a goddam planet, and cook up a bloody army of clones, but the best they can do for a guy with smoke inhalation is have him wheezing about as a goddam walking iron lung ?

    Oy Vey !

Die hard: 4 films. Not a trilogy.
Indiana jones: 4-5 films. Not a trilogy.
Terminator. 4 films. Not a trilogy.
Jaws: 4 films. Not a trilogy.
predator: 2 films, unless you count the vs Aliens, then it is 4 films. Not a trilogy.

And you cheated with Star wars.

    --------

The best trilogy was of course:

    Ace ventura: pet detective.

Here is a more complete list of trilogies.

i was about to mention the false trilogies but Mac got here first.
also, where is MATRIX? opposed to most of the movies in the list it is an ACTUAL trillogy and it is BETTER than childish DIE HARD and PREDATOR.
Cartoon xmen were cool but the movies were mediocre ,at best.
Godfather ,probably would get my vote, especially the one with marlon.
Didn't saw indianas, never bothered.only the last one which was pure family movie ,nothing more.
Termie 2 was quite the movie ...when i was like 10 or smth.
Stars? I hated both Trek and Wars ,even when i was young and being young means that you will probably like fantasy-scimovies etc etc but not me,it made me sick ,everything about those series...anyway.
    Also you forgot,Pirates of the Carribean,Spiderman,Oceans 11-13,Scream,Resident evil,Blade,Mission Impossible,The mummy,underworld etc...
You forgot alot of things,u put shitty movies and generaly you screwed up,but its ok ur just an egg.

Actually, I'm WAY in the minority even here in the USA. Every, at least moderately, intelligent person I know loves to wax philosophical about how wonderful the books are, tell me about all the many layers of the story, draw comparisons between the Ork production facility and modern industry, talk about how it's the ultimate "good v. evil" story and otherwise bore me with details about a book that I found just plain pedantic.

I read books on language and ancient people (who nobody else remembers) for fun. I've made it through fucking Ana Kostova's HORRIFIC "The Historian"; "The Odyssey", "The Iliad", "The Republic", "Crime and Punishment", "Winds Of War/War & Remembrance" and "The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich" with minimal difficulty, but ultimately found "LOTR" to be utterly impassable. I understand that it's ME and not the writer. There is simply no way for me to negatively judge a book that has had such a huge impact on so many lives. I'm saying: I hated it. It just wasn't for me.

From what I've been told, "Dune Chronicles" people usually end up not liking "LOTR" and visa versa. Who knows. I loved "Dune" passionately and have the books almost memorized. "LOTR" just bored me to sleep.

    Never touched it. Not interested.

    The Matrix?
What makes you think that's a trilogy?
    They only made ONE movie.
Repeat after me: they only made one.

Sequels would have been nice, but the chances are that if they'd done sequels they'd have sucked excessively.
They only made one Matrix movie.

Hmmm. Last I checked, there were three movies total. And if you read what the Wachowski brothers said, they fully intended on making it into a trilogy. Albeit, a weird one.

    The first three.

The ewest one sucks so it can't be a great movie. And the title says only the Best.

Not including the newest one. No Schwarzenager, no Terminator.

Forgot about the fourth one. Whoops.

Actually they made three Predator films. Excludng AVP. You just don't hear about it as much as th first two.

    Quit complaining.

I never got the chance to see it. Plus I didn't know they made three.

I actually forgot to put Pirates in there. I remembered as I posted the poll.
    Spider-Man isn't really THE best.
I havn't seen Oceans, i'll put it on my to-watch list.
    Scream? Come on.
Resident Evil had five movies. Trilogy means three.
    Forgot about M.I, Mummy, Underworld.

Crappy movies? The Godfather is posibly THE best trilogy. Although Lord of th Rings would give it a run for it's money.

And as far as my age. It has nothing to do with this. Alot of the movies you mentioned came out not to long ago; about 10 years at maximum.

I enjoyed LOTR because it was so very well done, acting, special effects, writing, costumes and on and on. Although many of the other movies were enjoyable I just believe that this one has just all the right combinations of everything to make it a very superb movie, above all the rest.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

I went with LotR just because it was a better series than Bourne. And the Bourne series has to be the only movie I liked over the book. Godfather was one good movie: the second one. Die Hard, all of them, sucked ass. X-men had 2 good movies. South Park had it right: Lucas & Spielberg raped Indy in the 4th movie. Jaws was one good movie.

    And
There are: Predator, Predator 2, AVP, AVP 2, and in the works Predators.
Not sure what movie you are counting as the 3rd Predator movie since there isn't one...yet.

Following your responses, any of the Star Trek series could have been included.

Yeah the fourth wasn't te greatest.

    My mistake.

I pointed out that Star Trek had near seven movies. Maybe more.
