Trolling in SFOG

    I see Gustav has been re-banned for one week following a quite obviously unwarranted ban for two weeks to begin with. The original ban was for "trolling" a thread about Australians and toilet bombs and the second was for pointing out how unwarranted the first one was with evidence [the alleged claim of sci being a science site still being vetted by Gustav and ignored by mods and admin alike]

    Pointing out this kind of mod/admin arbitrariness is the aim of SFOG and does not warrant a one week ban.

    So whats going on here? Why has Gustav been banned ?

    What was the reason for the two week ban in a thread titled Seriously, WTF?

    What is the reason for the one week ban because Gustav pointed it out?

    Its sad. Dissenting, though provoking voices are summarily silenced.

    What happens is that relevant and eclectic voices like Gustav eventually vacate the site and move on to more fertile grounds, thus diluting the experience here for the rest of us. Which of course could lead to a mass diaspora one might say.

    DaveW these are sad days indeed. :m:

    Is there a chance you may reconsider the ban JamesR?

    You do realise that the rules were more stringent when Dave was in charge, right? That the forum is now quite more relaxed than it used to be way back when?

    I am trying to determine if you're remembering back to the days of Dave through a haze of weed or if you've actually forgotten that doing an inch of what Gus has done would have resulted in a permanent ban.. What we tolerate now was in no way tolerated back then..

    So your comment intrigues me somewhat.

    So whats changed? What did Dave do so different that all the people who were part of sci under him have now become intolerable?

    Gustav ought to start contributing some content other than criticism of the moderators and administration.

    Reasons for both bans are given in the threads linked above.

    If anybody wants to join Gustav in solidarity, please let me know and I'll happily oblige.
