The episode where the captain of the ship was speaking with Jack from SG1 suggested that at least someone is aware of the problem. The captain told Jack, "We have this, and this, and this other problem". Jack said, "So fix it." In other words, "Stop the fuckin' whining and deal with the problems you incompetent jackass!"
Time travel? Maybe, like season 2... not epi 5. Its nice to see what the ship can do, however, not at the cost of the entire episode. I did like that the refueling/energy epi... but show what the ship is capable of more in the beginning of the episode. Any yes, enough w/ the politics... no one can help you outer there... not even the stones can. so I say, stop going back to Earth using the stones and focus more on the ship, and the planets that it visits <> go explore the freaking universe, yeah? We all know that the main goal is to get home <> just like the main goal in SG1 was to get advance technology and make allies. So please, would with cherries on top, Have the SGU crew explore more of the ship and make some discoveries and have fun exploring the universe. <> Also, Madanthonywayne - i agree w/ what you said.

Yeah. I mean, REALLY, another "communication stone" story? Really? Egad. How much longer until the script writers arrive? The only GOOD part of this story is the realization that Col. Young is Machiavellian, which is refreshing after 20 years of perfect, upstanding Starfleet and Stargate commanders. ~String
Despite the major role the stones played in the story, I'd think (hope) that the problems they had this time with them will make them less likely to use them. As to Col Young, I found the meeting between the two of them to be anticlimactic. I can understand why they both agreed to not reveal each others sins; but I had expected their meeting to be a bit more heated.
I'm about ready to give up on this show. If Tivo weren't automatically recording it, I probably would have already. Another fairly boring episode. They land on a planet perfectly suited to humans in what appears to be an entire solar system made by some incredibly advanced technology; and they don't even investigate the still functioning alien artifact on the planet? Instead, it's more infighting that I really don't give a shit about.
I watch it as nothing is there on Fridays. But still it is crap. This generation of Hollywood people are crap too. You have to wait for at least 12 years to get the next batch. Like French wine...a bad crop until next time.
I'm ready to bail too. But I'm such an r-tard when it comes to scifi. If it's in a ship, I hold some weird hope that it will turn out right. The effects are great, the characters are almost compelling. . . but the story. Mother fucker! The story is so horrible. How much horrible can it get? And it ain't even "horrible" in a "making me angry" sort of way. It's "horrible" in a, "god I'm so bored" way. I actually FAST FORWARD past the annoying dialogue. When is something going to happen? I'm annoyed with the whole thing. Fucking get the replicators working so they can make some cool stuff and start eating. The lame "we're starving" crap is getting old. I want them to run into some civilizations. Not that I want it to go all "Voyager" on us, but really, some interesting visits to populated worlds (you know, the kind where you pick up some interesting temporary charters, supplies and toys) would make for an interesting ride. Also, fix the ship up. I get it: It's DARRRRRK, but liven the damned thing up some. Well, I liked that plot device. You can't solve every mystery in a few weeks. Sometimes you just don't know. But, I have a feeling we haven't heard the last of those "godlike" aliens. At least there is Fringe and FlashForward. ~String
Exactly. I was surfing the internet as I watched hoping, just hoping for something interesting. I think they're trying to mimic BattleStar Galactica. Going for a darker, grittier series than is typical of a StarGate franchise. But they are failing horribly. Battle Star Galactica had me on the edge of my seat just about every episode; this crap is just boring. If they want to mimic BSG, they should just go out and hire some of the actors from the show. Maybe even some of the writers. Sure, you can't solve it. But you can at least check it out! I was watching the show thinking, why are you wasting time arguing about this crap. Go check out that artifact!!!!! Yes. I really like FlashForward. Tnings are getting interesting on that show. Even Fringe, which I wasn't a big fan of at first, is coming along nicely. The episode about stealing his alternate son from another universe was very good, as was the recent time travel episode.
Which is all well and good, but-- --as you said, just do the job. How many "we really all hate eachother, and the stones are our only plot device" stories do we need. How about, do a little "getting along" and visiting some interesting worlds. And if you do happen along a nice, unpopulated world that looks like the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, then at least pay a visit to the ONE fucking interesting alien obelisk within walking distance. Writers? Um. . . I don't think that SGU has writers, Mad. I stand corrected. I love the show. LOVE it. Love that the lesbian agent chick is the mole. So COOL! Fringe is the best show on TV. ~String
I like the show well enough, but I'll admit that I'm watching it with the hopes that it is building up towards something better. That there will come a time when it hits its groove. By way of example, the way the Star Trek TNG hit a sweet spot somewhere after the first season, when the characters became established, and the writers hit their stride. Which is probably unwarranted optimism on my part. But the episode with the flying octopus things was pretty good. It was clever to use the time travel gimmick to allow then to kill off irreplaceable characters.
Yes, I do like Fringe. FlashForward started out great, but the plot lines slowed down a lot...so I record and scan it...
The last couple episodes haven't been too bad. Finally something is happening other than constant backbiting and infighting.
the thing i find anoying as hell is that you have one paramedic on board, no doctors or nurses and no back up if the medic gets hurt or killed. use the stones and send the medic back to upgrade her skills (eg surgury, intubation, airway management ect) and at least one other person who can be trained the same. god damit thats the FIRST thing they should have been doing
Did you not watch the first episode? They aren't on that ship on purpose, they fled there in an emergency. In real life, sometimes you don't get to take all the people with you that you need. Sometimes you get stuck with the people you have. ~String
no, you miss my point. You have the personal on board that you have, however you ALSO have a set of stones which will transport a person back to earth in mind. Now this wont get you food or water but it WILL get you knowlage. Ie one of the first things i would be doing is sending my paramedic and at least one other person back to sit in an operating thearter doing both surgury and airway managment for at least 10 hours a day for as long as possable and while they are reciving that training having them swap with the best doctors so that the crew has some dam good medical personal on board. Further more the commander had internal bleeding, probably a lacerated splien or liver in the first episode. He SHOULD be cactus because you cant fix that without surgical intervention WHICH THEY DIDNT HAVE
So...Much...Grammar...Fail... I don't much care for the characters, or the story-line. I only watch it for the reason that the ship they are on was built by the Ancients. I am a bit obsessed with them. I am interested to learn more about the Ancients, their history, etc. The ship, it's capabilities and technologies, and all the other goodies they haven't gotten to yet, due to the damaged areas. But aside from that, I couldn't care less about the show....
Fringe, V, Doctor Who (even though the newest Doctor is kinda iffy) and, eventually, season 4 of Torchwood. That's the sci-fi that I watch. I've never seen Flash Forward and Stargate: Universe sucked too much ass to justify wasting any more space on the DVR.
