who: anyone who wonders where we came from

how: evolution conviently ties up all the loose ends of how man or any animal rather came to be. No more wondering how the hell i got opposable thumbs!

on the other hand creationism is even more convienient!! hows it go? I AM GOD poof here is man!

on a more serious note creationism and evolution is the epitome of science vs religion

    was just a joke really

    edit: spelling and stuff

please, ladies and gentlemen some of the greatest thinkers of our times have read or been influenced by vedic philosophy, to name drop, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle all were taught vedic philosophy by vedic Brahmans. Isaac Newton, Emerson, Thoreau, Einstein. Even dare i say his name Hitler with his ideas on creating the perfect race, the Aryans. Also Charles Darwin who got his ideas on evolution from vedic philosophy. He admitted that his ideas on evolution were just theories.

Why have we not moved on from these nonsense theories and speculations? It is not enough to sit in front of our computers with a can of bear in hand, just theorising and speculating to our hearts content. We need to do some serious field work. What the academics are telling us do not add up. They too are caught up in the three modes of material nature, goodness passion and ignorance. they too have the propensity to cheat, steal and lie etc.

Mankind had a special past. We all think with this hi tech age we're civilised and our forefathers were ignorant . Well think again. They were more in touch with themselves and their environment (mother-nature). We on the other hand have lost control of our senses and we're intoxicated by unnateral things such as media, drugs, fashion, etc. By unnateral things i mean this is not our true nature , why do you think society is breaking down? Its because they're over burdoned, overloaded with too many unnatural externals. the present day collective conciousness is destined for more desasters around the world, any way thats another story.

    Many thanks

    ***MOD NOTE***
Gerti has been banned for trolling.

Failure to support the previous post, and compounding it with more nonsense. (And blatant ignorance of what "theory" means in science, we don't need woo woo rubbish here).

And don't you know that terrifying Mod Notes are supposed to be in bold with the *** Mod Note *** and coloured text? Call yourself a moderator! Normal text doesn't inspire fear! They'll arbitrarily post anyone to moderacy nowadays; I remembers in 2003 when Moderators was respected.

Throw them down! says I. Throw them down!

Pardon me if this has been stated already.

Scientists are not PR or media people. Most celebrities, PR and those who work in the media are not scientists (unless you are a scientific journalist).

When scientists explains things what happens? You either get confused or you fall asleep. It's like going back to school all over again.

When celebrities take up a cause, they are dismissed that they don't know what they're talking about and are accused of using their fame.

But you get media and PR people spinning facts, throwing-in confusing arguments that leaves the scientific community in disbelief and speechless (at how anybody can make such unsound claims) and the population laps it up like kittens to milk. And then they claim victory because they stumped the scientists.

In between you get David Suzuki, Carl Sagan and Al Gore who are able to communicate to the public in such a way that are easily understood and remain true to the science. Their critics call them celebrities.

Another classic example is the link of Iraq to 911 and the claim of WMDs. The proof wasn't there but the media and PR spin machine was working.

So there you have it. Regardless if the discussion is evolution, global warming, cell phone or tobacco's link to cancer or gps and road safety, the science can't win because the PR will always have the upper hand.

This was just weird. This Gerti chick resurrects this 2 year-old thread. I wonder why of all the threads she picked this one.
