"porn mode" on Win IE, can it be disabled?

    Just out of curiosity, is there some sort of "don't write anything to the hard drive" option that can be turned on with a linux boot CD that would allow you to use someone's hardware without leaving any traces?

    Yes, but as I said, it depends on how sophisticated you want to get.

    For example:
    I have tools that allow me to actually read existing passwords, but your average person, not even deserving the title of "hacker/cracker", will be able to find crack tools that leave traces. If you don't know exactly who was at which workstation at what time, then this will suffice. Again, cost/benefit...

    Probably because once I was using the Linux CD with a computer without a HD...
