Awesome, I loved Spirited Away and I've just bought Howl's. I'll give it a watch, although I do prefer animé with a bit more sex and violence, or GITS type convoluted plot line.
well if your a sex and violence is your forte i unrecommend kiki's delivery service.. lol.. its a kid anime.. i watched it when i was like 13.. lol

Has anyone in here heard of Escaflowne? It's an older anime movie. About the same time as Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.(1995)
Fully agree. The Sunrise animes I watched are Mobile Suit Gundam SEED/Destiny, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Mobile Suit Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam OO, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. Sunrise does a lot of original stories rather then remakes of manga. When I see the Sunrise logo, first thing that comes to my mind is "Gundam".Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Yeah Iv seen Escaflowne, but the one I watched was a series, it had a mech that transformed ino something similar to a dragon right?, anyway I was asking on the other thread whether anyone had heard of School Rumble, but sadly no one had, so Im asking here has anyone watched it or am i the only one who has?
I posted that on the Best Anime Series thread, I am just spreading the word to Gundam fans. I can never get enough of Gundam. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I am going to try to start an anime fansub group. Its a group of anime fans that produce free subtitled anime in all different languages Here are the requirements: -Is very interested in anime -Is interested in fansubbing -Its volunteer work since it is FANsubbing, we will be doing it for free -Completing the work on schedule -Be dedicated -Complete your portion on time Those are the only requirements, but having a decent computer also helps. I need a good enough Japanese-English translator, I can do the Chinese-English parts ( I know a bit of Chinese, basic level and I mastered Kanji so I am qualified ). I also need a typesetter, an editor ( for the English parts ), a karaoke maker, a quality checker, and possibly a translation checker if you qualify. Everything besides translator and translation checkers are open for all that want to join, and you don't have to have the skills yet. I can do the encoding and the timing ( including karaoke timing ). It is a great opportunity to learn japanese and subtitling skills. We also need people surfing the internet for Japanese RAWs ( Japanese dub with NO ENGLISH SUB ). We will first practice a bit then I will need someone to start posting the vids after a while. I will make the website. After I got the members I will start doing votes for the animes we are subbing...I will also like some people that is fluent in multiple languages, we can sub in different languages Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!, but we have to do japanese-english, then english-( the language ). And unless you can find another person fluent in that language, you have to do the editing yourself. If you are interested PM me. I am taking 8 members max. for the start, and after a while, I will start taking a lot more people to start training them. I haven't decided what the name will be, I will when we have the group. I have some experience in fansubbing, I was a timer, I quit after a while because the animes we subbed started to get crappy. Don't worry, I will make sure we get to sub everyone's favorites. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Ugh. I hate fansubs. It's killing the industry here. It's because of them that anime has declined as a profitable medium in the United States. It's no better than internet piracy.
I'm always up for a good anime. Does anyone have any recommendations for anything newer than 2010? The only relatively recent ones I've seen are Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (loved it), High School of the Dead (entertaining, but the fan service ruined it for me) and Steins;Gate (still watching, but would say that it seems to be picking up nicely post episode 12). For me, I am not such a fan of what I would call the "unreasonably long" animes, like Naruto, Dragonball Z, Bleach, Inuyasha and One Piece. Entertaining as they can be, no one is going to go back and watch hundreds of episodes just to get caught up. My favorites tend to be contained to under 100 episodes telling a complete story, like Hell Girl (first season only), Full Metal Alchemist (the original or Brotherhood). Boccano!, Elfen Lied, Berserk, Escaflowne, Ergo Proxy, Death Note, Monster, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, the various Ghost in the Shell stories, etc.
I watched Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Ninja Scroll back in the day, and well nothing seems to live up to those movies these days. So can't really say I'm a big fan of this genre anymore.
