I quite agree with you; I'm talking of culture here, not blind defense of the lazy and stupid. Don't necessarily defend everyone within the nation, but rather the culture of the nation; that, there is no reason why you oughtn't defend it.

I foresee a future like that, but we have a long way to go. Homo sapiens is by nature a tribal species, but our history has been a constant effort to transcend nature. Building tools, taming fire, making clothes, living in harmony and cooperation with dogs, then transcending our own nature by gathering in larger groups in permanent villages with an unnatural supply of surplus food.

As the millennia progressed, we kept merging our tribes into larger and larger units, eventually learning to live in harmony and cooperation with total strangers. Today we live in nations so large that most of our fellow citizens are nothing more than abstractions to us, yet we manage to maintain harmony and cooperation with them most of the time.

The Europeans have managed to transcend their tribalism and merge into a transnational unit which, so far anyway, seems to have finally brought harmony and cooperation to that poor ravaged continent. Latin America will surely be next. India contains one-fifth of the human race and by today's standards they live in harmony and cooperation most of the time. The same can charitably be said for China.

Can the final merger into one nation be far off?
You know I'm not going to defend America's treatment of the native people. But every nation has a savage history if you dig deeply enough into its history, particularly when people from opposite sides of a Paradigm Shift meet. In North America, many of the indigenous tribes were four Paradigm Shifts behind the European occupiers: the Agricultural Revolution, the Dawn of Civilization, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. For the colonists to treat the Indians as animals is unforgivable, yet it is ever so slightly understandable. This was long before the Enlightenment, so they didn't have the universe all figured out in an elegant philosophy like we do today.

Besides, Americans maintain a compulsive igorance of history, perhaps because we don't want to have to think about our own. Most Americans, if they think about the Indians at all, put them in the same category as the Roman Empire: moderately interesting, but ancient, and irrelevant to anyone except a scholar. So sorry all that bad crap happened to them, but life isn't fair and it wasn't my fault anyway.
This is nothing. We don't consider a thread "long" until it hits six pages. Many have gone beyond twenty.

No need for the long justifications, I was simply agreeing with you. As well as them.

I'm not particularly impressed with the "multicultural" movement. Or even the "globalisation" ideology. For one thing, its neither multicultural nor global.

But, we're off topic - on topic- I think the friend is better off without one who doesn't even know the first rule of friendship is loyalty.

Very generally, the problem with muslim immigrants is that they come from a background where the place they live in and the culture they live in is supposed to assimilate to them -- instead of the other way around.

Did you know that the Quran actually teaches that islam is supposed to be made victorious over all other religions, even when followers of other religions are adverse to changing? It doesn't take a genius to figure out why their culture has been diseased by such "values." You need only look at their religion to find the origin of it all.

You can tell your friend to learn about history of imperialism and colonialism done by, well, mostly white people. My home country, Indonesia, for example, was colonialized by the Dutch for 350 years until 1942, and then by the Japanese for 3.5 years. They took our resources, slaved, kill, rape our ancestors, and the list goes on. We are not alone. India was colonialized by the British. The French, Portuguese, etc were also colonialists. Your friend should understand why some countries are still developing or those in Africa still under developed. And while we're on it, many countries, notably muslim countries, are still invaded. They are murdered, their oil are stolen, their infrastructure are blown up, etc etc. Tell your friends to tell his friends to go back to their home countries and take care their own backyard!

You can also tell also your friend to tell his friends who are living in another countries to adapt to the culture of the countries where they are living and enjoying luxuries as expatriats. Many countries don't open to alcohol, drugs, pornography, free sex, etc etc. Stop poisoning our youth with his immoral culture spreaded by his people, movie, television, magazine, etc programs.

If I were you, though, I will simply left my friend instead of wasting my energy and making enemies. Everything is futile. Better take care of your own life, be serious in your job, make friends with people who are not narrow minded and make you happy when you are around them. Not all white people are like your friend, some are kind, open minded, tolerant, and enjoying life.

Well let's be fair. Africans were still running around in loinclothes and spears (they still are, in many parts) by the time white people were sailing around the world and colonizing the place. There are geographic reasons for that, but that is the truth.

I think you should break it off because... if he is a person you don't like then he wasn't your friend in the first place I think...

Well He is your friend for a reason if you do not like his view on politics then do not discuss politics.

And if he starts make it clear that you do not wan't to discuss it with him.

(if that works I see no reason why you can't be friends)

In the final analysis, it's not what's written in a holy book that counts, but rather what its adherents take from it. Christianity teaches its faithful the same thing, only perhaps not so succinctly. Christendom taken as a community has always striven to be victorious over all other religions. Christendom has made war on Muslims and Jews, and when none are handy they turn on each other over what to us are utterly paltry differences in interpretation of their text.

If you think Christians are qualitatively different from Muslims in the militance of their attitude toward outsiders, then perhaps it's because unlike me you were not alive during the Holocaust.
Friends are supposed to be comfortable enough with each other that they don't have any taboo subjects they have to tap-dance around to avoid getting into an argument. Reasonable people can disagree, and disagreement need not ruin a friendship. If this "friend's" politics are so abhorrent that he can't stand to listen to them, or can't stand to not try to change them, and/or the other friend feels the same way about him, then they have two choices:
    • Spend much of your time together in passionate argument
    • Stop being friends.

As you 're a foreigner yourself did he mean that he doesn't like you and doesn't want to hang out with you (personally) anymore?
If so leave him alone he's not worth the trouble, If not...

you claimed to be friends with the guy for 5 years so he must also have his better traits. So if possible ignore his view and focus on the things you do like abouth him.

Anyway I wouldn't end a friendschip I had for 5 years over 1 lousy argument

He sounds great. I would be friends with him in a heartbeat. I am starting to embrace isolationism in view of the fact everything we have done up to now does not keep us safe, does not get us liked/respected, and we should protect our own, first. I am anti-immigration and support locking the borders, deporting all illegal aliens, and enforcing "America first" policies etc.

Totalitarty stands are never good, you can't yust close the borders or yust let everyone in.

altough as devils advocate when you let as much people in as the US does and over 10% of the population speaks Spanish they should recognise it as a official 2de language especially in certain states like California and texas and arizona (each having a roughly 30% spanish speaking populations)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_Spoken_at_Home_(U.S._Census)

Personally any immigration from groups that feels more connected to their home country in stead of their host country will result in trouble.

Precisely. Though the same goes for many of the other races; thus it seems to me that, at least historically, there have been races superior to others, primarily whites and Semites (Jews & Arabs).

Though that is not an in-born superiority, but rather a cultural or civil superiority.
