I always wondered about administering pure alcohol by needle. After all it has to enter the bloodsystem, what's the fastest way then injecting it? Not to mention you would pass the breathalizer test...

You'd still fail the test. No matter the method of ingestion, your body gets rid of a small amount of alcohol through breathing.

That is interesting skaught, I never knew that. Wonder why that's so?

Personally I don't trust pills that much. But the reduced caloric intake is appealing, theoretically

It just so toxic that the body uses every resource available to get rid of it asap!

I'm confused. How does one turn alcohol into a powder? It is impossible..?

"We have developed a technology that allowed us to turn any liquid solution into powder," Professor Moskalev said.
Dehydration is been around for a while. And alcohol isn't a liquid solution, it's a liquid.

Slightly hijacking this thread, on alcohol injection:

"Case 1 was a 29-year-old, single, unemployed and homeless man, admitted to hospital for alcohol and diazepam detoxification. He fulfilled ICD-10 criteria (World Health Organization, 1992) for both alcohol and diazepam dependence. While reviewing his history of injecting illicit drugs (heroin and amphetamine), the patient mentioned that he had been injecting alcohol over the previous 9 years. He injected mainly vodka, sherry or whisky with approximately a twice-monthly frequency. His last injection had been 2 weeks before admission. He gave the main reasons for this use as the rapid effect and the enjoyment of the injection itself. The only side-effect he described was a burning pain at the site of injection.

Case 2 was a 29-year-old, unemployed man, married with one child living in rented accommodation. He was admitted to hospital for alcohol detoxification. He fulfilled ICD-10 criteria for alcohol, opioid and benzodiazepine dependence. Heroin was the main drug injected. When questioned about intravenous injection of alcohol, he said that he had been using this method for 10 years until 1 year before admission. He injected mainly vodka with a frequency of four times per week. His main reasons for injecting were the rapid effect and enjoyment of the needle, particularly when heroin was not available. He described the only side-effect as redness and a burning pain at the site of injection.

Case 3 was a 35-year-old single, unemployed man who lived in a hostel for the homeless and who was admitted to hospital for alcohol and methadone detoxification. He fulfilled ICD-10 criteria for alcohol and opioid dependence. He had injected various illicit drugs including heroin and amphetamine. When questioned about intravenous injection of alcohol, he admitted having used this method over a period of 3 years. He said that he had injected various alcoholic beverages, including beer, approximately once a week. His main reasons for injecting were the rapid effect and avoiding the smell of alcohol on his breath because his hostel prohibited alcohol use. The only side-effect he described was a burning pain at the site of injection."

    So advantages:

    1. Rapid effect.
    2. Not much of sideeffects.
    3. No alcoholic breath.

    Also probably cheaper....

But for many, drinking is a social thing. Who the hell wants to sit around and pop a pill at a party to get drunk???

For me, if I'm going to 'pop a pill' it better have way more fun side-effects then just getting me blasted.

If I'm going to drink and party, I want to drink...I want a drink in my hand...I want to play drinking games...

So I think it comes down to whether drinking is social for you or not. I enjoy the process of drinking...I wouldn't want to take a pill for it.

Anecdotal evidence from homeless drug addicts is probably not the best source of information, wouldn't you agree?

And it's not because you've ingested alcohol through your mouth that breathalyzers work. You exhale alcohol dissolved in your blood, much in the same way you exhale dissolved carbon dioxide. It doesn't matter whether you drink it, take it in pill form, or inject it directly into your blood stream. It will be caught by a breathalyzer in all three scenarios. You will also be able to smell it on someone's breath.

I thought this thread was about a drug that interacts with ethanol to reduce intoxication; the kind secret agents use so that they can appear to be drinking a ridiculous amount yet still stay sober.

This smells like a hoax. I'm not a chemist but if you're binding a chemical to the drink to make it into a solid how do you account for the reduction in volume? Even if you're binding it only to the alcohol in the drink you might be able to reduce a beer into a capsule but a beverage that's 96% alcohol would remain about the same volume. Perhaps someone else can explain it but it sounds fishy to me.

If it does work it sounds to me like there would be an incredible danger of overdosing. Pop 5 or 10 pills in a matter of minutes and you're on your way to the ER.

But if you're into a quick rush you can always consume your alcohol rectally:

"In 2004, a woman in Texas was accused of giving her husband a sherry enema that caused his death. The charges against her were dropped. The man died from shooting sherry up his behind. According to his wife's testimony, he was in the habit of getting drunk this way since a medical condition did not allow him to drink booze the normal way. When he died, his blood alcohol level was .47. In Texas, .08 percent is legally drunk. The term extreme alcoholic does come to mind when thinking about this case. Other terms and comments come to mind too."

You'll need to try Methylphenidate!! You can get it in Ritalin pills, its almost exactly like cocaine, but the best way to do it is, to take some serotonin re-uptake inhibitors, then with a few pills of Ritalin you can prolong the buzz for about 8 hours in a day, and on-top of that you can some Vicodin, best not to take it after 4pm, or you'll not be able to go bed, this was the cock-tail I was enjoying in Pakistan with a few chemistry students, stimulants just give you supreme confidence, and its better then alcohol as your physically fine and not stuttering and talking a load of nonsense, but the last think you want to do is mix alcohol with this, it will tear your head off, that was one bad mistake I did, the come-down was so bad, I wanted to kill myself just a real mind-mash-up!

I've done all sorts of drugs, you can't touch cocaine! that gives you sexual energy too, and when your on it, its very hard for someone to put you out in a fight!

But you have to know what you are doing with drugs, or you could be the next River Phoenix

If you are mentally weak, don't do drugs, or you'll end up with psychosis, I know folks who talk to walls and stuff! Mentally you have to be very strong, if you are vulnerable mentally its bound to end in tears for you, drugs change your brain chemistry

Sorry, but it has nothing to do with "mental strength", whatever that's supposed to be. If the drug has a lasting physiological effect on the brain then it's merely a matter of duration and dosage. Symptomology may vary but there are still effects.

I remember I used to drink 2X2 litre large bottles of Coke every day when I was younger. Part of me believes that my body was compensating after I was taken off what was a popular asthma drug at he time which is related to caffeine - theophylline.

    I am one of those.

I get the increased energy, but weirdly enough, not the withdrawals.

I can OD on Red Bull every day then go without some if I'm too lazy to get any, with no effects.

Then you don't drink it regularly enough. If you are, try a few days without
