Doesn't it? Which is the mindless part? That they were singing carols and exchanging gifts? Or that they were killing each other the next day?

You should be on a war front somewhere. All those who advocate war should.

OK I am not discussing any particular war but all wars in which I repeat

"But the participation isn't mindless its voluntary. WW2 was relevant wasn't it? All the wars are relevant when the men participating can lose life and limb."

This still holds regardless of whatever gifts were exchanged.

If I were on the warfront somewhere I would be helping someone like my man Ricky!

Which men will lose life and limb? The leaders or the foot soldiers?

Why aren't you there helping him?

The men who fight and civilians of course.

We all play our parts in our own way Sam. With his training he doesn't need me by his side also I think it would be a little distracting for him and his mates. Me being a woman and all.

But Hey Rick if you guys need a good woman to barbecue the rabbits you catch let me know

So its the foot soldiers and civilians then who lose life and limb. Whats relevant about war if they don't participate?

Lets just say that all the people who did not volunteer for the occupation did not lose limb nor life and also did not kill any civilians. Can't say the same about the Afghanis and Iraqis who did not volunteer since they are in the wrong place for options.

And? They are not serving in the military and there is no draft. So....

So they are the ones who reduce the relevance of such adventures for the leaders that promote them.

Surely you remember Vietnam? Hard to fight a war with no cannon fodder to volunteer their life and limbs.

They are not needed which means they aren't necessary which makes them irrelevant, especially to this topic.

    Vietnam? They were drafted.

Yeah everyone remembers what happened the last time there was a draft.

Would you support a draft if they were "needed"?

No I wouldn't support a draft not for this war. But as we know they don't need a draft.

Not volunteers these are military men who would serve in peace time as well as times of conflict. These are career servicemen.

Yes, it does, actually. A good share of it, anyway.
You mean with religious justifications, no?

Pakistan seems to have made a history of it. Further examples in the Sudan/Ethiopian/Somalian mess, Iran/Lebanon, Iraq/Iran, Kurd/Turkey, Indonesia/Timor, etc.

The Indonesia Timor thing struck me as very ironic. When do the aboriginals get a referendum?
