I guess we will disagree on this. I think these people are as mentally unstable as an anorexic. They don't like what they see so they take drastic measures to change it. Same as being addicted to plastic surgery.

and I have the BEST pair of glasses, I bought for 20bucks 6months ago, that i LOVE!!! They are great.. and I wont freak out if they get lost.. why spend 200$ on sunglasses when they will get strached up and crap... EVERYTHING that goes into the stores, are based apon people re resurch trends, and they are trying to get new ones started, or are following others leads.. Everything that comes out is trend related

I'm confused. Is this thread about sunglasses or clothing?
I only buy name brand (A&E, Hollister, Roxie, etc) for my daughter. Luckily they are only $3.99 at Goodwill

You could say the same of wearing makeup, nice clothes, or hair dye.

I don't agree that it denotes unhappiness with yourself. I like my facial structure, but I still like to wear metal in my lips and nose.

You see it as being unhappy with yourself. I see it as celebrating being alive. You only get to live once, so why not have fun by doing extreme things with your appearance? It hurts no one.

Yes, many in your station will justify and be happy with it when they simply have no other choice.

    Um...why am I a slave to trends?

Just about anything you do can be construed as a trend, why pick on piercings specifically?

As a matter of fact, it was anything but a trend...everyone in my college class at the time tried to tell me not to get one "because I'd look like a butch lesbian". I got one anyway.

They all wanted one after I walked into class with a metal rod in my lip.

I'm not "picking" on anything, isn't the title of the thread about piercings?

And where, pray tell, did you get the idea?

Uh-huh. Are you saying you are the trend-setter as opposed to the trend-follower?

i have a choice. I choose to save the money I save on other things we need.. So instead of spending 40bucks on a dress my daughter will wear for 3months, I spend 10-20, and can buy her bubble bath, or food

you should practice what you preach then. *see example below*

to me piercings are horrible. and if i were a female i cant see myself even getting my ears pierced. so no, my girlfriends dont need to wear earrings or nail polish or makeup.

It's more like bickering over what are trends. Just try not to lose the topic out of sight.
