I don't get why it's so important that clueluss don't use English as the most do or choses to. At least this shouldn't be the reason. I met with people like him in forums -who express themselves that way- though it was back in the day and forums weren't ruled in this detail and they turned out OK. Besides if he was a real sockpuppet don't you think, he would be discovered by now? Well, not %1oo of course, I am sure stranger things have happened.

Dywyddyr, if you get to be a mod, you'll just get annoyed with someone starting a sentence with 'I believe' or ban another because she missed a year forward in count of her own age.

I also believe you are a bit too much scientific minded to be a mod.

But you are my second vote after pjdude, nevertheless.

Pfft, people can believe whatever they like.
(Whether it's true/ justifiable or not is another question).

    Innumeracy: unforgivable. Bannable

On the other hand I would be fair: I'd get equally annoyed with everyone!

Pfft (again), too scientific-minded? Is that possible?
And I do read and write poetry and fiction, have studied architecture and languages, art and philosophy...

Oh, absolutely Enmos. You are usually so logical and rational, how could you possibly be fooled by this?

Go through his previous posts and watch for when he gets serious, or angry, or any true affect. (affect meant in the psychological sense)

All of a sudden, he can spell complex words and use acceptable grammar. How is that, I wonder?

I know, but he says that he sometimes takes the time to look up all the words and spell them out correctly.
I find it suspicious but I cannot know for certain.

Regardless, I generally find Clueluss' posts to be worth reading.
Some of them have been positively thought-provoking (which is more of a novelty than it used to be on Sci...)

It's not necessary to look up the spelling of any given word, just download firefox and use the inbuilt spell checker.

About the 'too scientific minded'. Yes it's possible. Because we are talking about 'moderating'. And 'moderating' a Free Thought and a Art and Culture Forum.

There are highly intellectual and very well informed people in this forum, but none of us are real scientists. I am sure there are also candidates and PhDs and students. But it's not enough for being a mod. I actually think it's a handicap for being a mod.
A mod should be able to give sensitive reactions, should have empathy, intuition. He/she should be able to understand a situation and help it kept in moderate. Not correcting the ideas and telling people 'they are wrong'.

This will look to you as anti-democratic, but all this conflict between mods and members in the forum is rising from the fact that mods are participating like members and they shouldn't. You can easily observe situations between people sparkled by very trivial posts and expressions. And Free Thought should be the most difficult forum to moderate because most of the threads being posted there.

So that's what I mean. I don't support an anti-intellectual aspect or anything.

Why don't you ask Asguard and clueluss the exact same question, whatver that might be, and then evaluate the answers. Make your decision based on that. Oh, and Enmos, I don't know a boatload of people here, but I think you and I have acquaintance. I will not lie to you, I may be wrong about clueluss, but I won't lie to you as to how I read it.

It's internet on your TV or something and he can't install anything. At least that's what he told me.
You'll have to ask him if you want to know more

I know Rand. But I just can't judge without being certain, especially since he's pretty harmless and appears to be a generally nice person.

    It could be moderated scientifically.

Au contraire, a number of us ARE real scientists. (Not me I hasten to add).

    Empathy?
    Intuition?
I think I've heard of those words before...

    Gasp! Are you sure?

Come on, it's perfectly clear what I am talking about. It should be more of a people person than someone who is driven to display his knowledge and his ability to make reasonable, rational debates on a specific subject. And that's rational!

It's good to know there are real scientist here, I am honoured.

I bet, none of them ever attempted anything close to moderating, am I right? He he.

I know what are you talking about. But that 'correcting' never survives the process. So nothing's corrected. It just turns into personal vendetta. And that is the real bullshit stopping people talking about some enjoyable rational topics.
