Vote GeoffP - He knows the difference between an endorsement and a nomination.

A vote for GeoffP is a vote for ambient knowledge.

And that's why you're willing to invest your personal time into such an ungrateful job? (ungrateful job, because people will always whine about your moderation, etc.)

also i would like to state if you can't avoid getting into a pissing contest over just putting your name up for nomination you clearly don't have any business being up for being a moderator much less being one.

also people we do not yet know the mechanism for selection so this campaigning is a we bit premature.

Since the rules are not for me, I vote for cluelesshusband and Entropyalwayswins

They both have two important qualities required in a mod: patience, the ability to be unbiased and a sense of humour.

    Oh alright thats three.

Frankly I would vote against Geoff. He doesn't read posts or links, how will he moderate? Besides he should be writing grants. And spending time with his four or five kids [don't remember how many he has]

    cluelusshusbund,
Would you be interested in Art & Culture, if James is willing to give it to you?
I think you would be ideal for it.

Good queston... an the thang is... i ant a control freek... the mor free the speech the beter even if its critical an directed toward me... an the ideal situaton woud be that people woud self-regulate good enuff that no moderaton woud be needed... i know... its a scary idea... lol... but i thank mos people woud stay somware close to reasonable of ther own accord when they realize that they are perty much in charge of ther own moderaton... however... the owners of this groop have the final say in what is allowed here... an if i coudnt go along wit ther desires i woud resign wit no ill will... kinda like early on when i figered i was soom gonna be baned because i was defendin myself from sock accusatons... so i quickly made a post befor i got baned sayin no hard feelins an wishin people here well... ie... i ant a hater

    That's why I think you'd be perfect.

I think you would be a lot more fair and unbiased than most people who have very strong opinions about the topics in there.
Far too often people take a moderating job in something they are passionate about and those passionate thoughts lead them to feel more like a referee in the discussions and they end up taking sides. (this is true - that's not true - this sucks...)
A moderator should act dispassionately - even if he is not truly dispassionate.
Plus it is not very busy, so it will give you the opportunity to prove yourself (being relatively new here) and how well you can do the job.

Also, Free Thought tends to be a nasty, bitter place (though not as bad as Politics and Religion) and I don't know why anyone would WANT that. Your patient, understanding disposition could be a benefit there - or it could be a detriment if people try to take advantage of it.

I'm not sure if you don't go there much because you don't know much about Art or because you do and you dislike it, but if it is because you don't know much about it, perhaps it could be a lerning experience.
