I've already come to terms with the fact that my game would not sell well in Germany, and the only people in germany playing it would have smuggled or pirated copies, which I am fine with

I was thinking of adding a bit of an RPG feel to it, with the player increasing in rank maybe, and as a higher officer, actually commanding troops:shrug:

There is a danger of the ethics of the notion are overtaking the common sense approach that it is, after all, just a game. Whether it sells always depends of Joe Public, irrespective on nationality. As most are probable traded online these days anyway, the location of the buyer is immaterial to the seller.

The holocaust and the goings on with the SS would not be brought not question if the characters of the game are pure wehrmacht, and no black uniforms in site.

    Aargh!!!
    Heer not wehrmacht.
Heer = army, wehrmacht = armed forces (i.e. heer/ army, kriegsmarine/ navy and luftwaffe/ airforce).
And black uniform was Allgemeine SS (the "political" wing).
Combat SS (Waffen SS) had some rather snazzy, modern-looking camo gear -

my normal last name is Americanized version of a Belgium last name that was Dimenstein, but that is absurdly jewish and I doubt the Germans would have a Jewish fello be a soldier.

I said WEHR because I assumed that other arms would possibly be involved, and Wehr covers a lot sof sins. My own ex Regiment wears black and so did the SS Tank Divs. Infantry however had differing designs depending on role.

When my Regiment first returned to Germany eons ago, they got some weird looks as it looked like the SS had returned.

I assumed that it wouldn't sell well because I know that WWII is a bit of a touchy subject for them, and also the swastika is banned in Germany, is it not?

lol! don't worry. I might just put it on a nameless person's name tag, or something like that.

I recognize that uniform pattern from the various WWII games that I have played.

I think the display of it is banned, but to totally ban it is denial mode in the extreme. I have it on my site as a background on a couple of pages, I will not remove it because spme political officer tells me it might offend Sheeva in Tel Aviv!!

There is a game for the computer called Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty, in which the Germans take over America and you play as a resistance soldier. Perhaps following those lines(Taking America) you could make a game where you as a German and don't have to lose. Or base it on the start of the war in which they were winning.

my friend and I were talking about that.
unfortunately, the game apparently got cancelled because it was too controversial.

as for my game, I want it to go through the whole war, displaying the hardships the germans experienced, especially at the end of the war.
