oh yeah... and if i want to spank kids because i enjoy it then what is wrong with that and who is going to stop me ?
playing spank the bottom of children to get your sexual thrills is very common around the world.
lots of parents just cant wait to make themselves feel better by touching their childs sexual parts and hurting them to watch as they feel pain.
it gives them their sexual thrills and a feeling of power.

the most desired part of the child to touch is their bottom and to inflict pain on them.
it makes adults feel powerful and sexually superior and in control.

what interesting people they are. do you have dinner parties with such like people ?

IQ is meaningless anyway. So who cares if spanking decreases IQ points?

Where did you read the study? I can't find it, I guess it's too new to be on this his website just yet. Not saying this Dr. Strauss might have an agenda, but I think Dr. Strauss might have an agenda. He obviously wants spanking eradicated. There is no hiding his personal views in his research. Not that he's wrong...

Actually IQ is one of the single best predictors of success (or failure) later in life. Contrary to what some people seem to like to believe, it's not just a meaningless number.

I googled for it. I don't have the link offhand any more, but I'm sure you can dig it up if you search around for it.

MENSA certainly do not think that an IQ is meaningless.

    I know, I was trolling.

It's just that sometimes *cough* liberals like to pretend that it's meaningless when it makes certain demographics look bad. But when some study says spanking affects IQ or that vegetarians have higher IQs, then all of a sudden it becomes a viable subject. They change their position on IQ as it suits them.

Really? I get several websites that talk about it but not a single one that has the actual study, not even the University or New Hampshire has it.

    Orly,

This is a little misleading because I don't see where they knew the IQ point before they were spanked. So in that sense, it is making assumptions with the data. It may be that lower IQ kids have lower IQ parents who might be more likely to spank but that is not what the title suggests.

It is saying that if you spank your kid it will lower their IQ.

So if everyone is so worried about the physical harm to the child. Then everyone should have c sections, because the physical trauma to a child during child birth is far beyond any spanking that my kids have received.

It can be because it only tests certain aspects of your intelligence and it assumes everyone always tests at their best at all times. IQ scores like SAT scores can't be trusted 100% even 70% of the time (fortunately for many exiting high school students universities have just begun to realize this). Being smart doesn't mean anything when it comes to how well you do in school or the workplace or later in life. Motivation is everything. And IQ doesn't test for it.

I was considered gifted when I had my IQ tested in elementary and again in jr. high and high school and I also did well in school, but I was driven to do so. Something I learned when I lost my motivation to succeed; being smart didn't cut it, my grades plummeted.

Idiots on the top of the success chain and geniuses on the bottom aren't that rare of an occurrence.

According to several IQ exams my brother is mentally disabled, yet he gets good grades in school. It's difficult for me to place a whole lot of stock in this test of intelligence.

    hey !
surely your just baiting here ?
you cant include school retard wrote level teaching and subjects to define a level of intellect achievement ?

being able to parrot stats is how you pass high school and first 2 years of university.
soo anything up to that point is kinda speculation.
