I've played Far cry (got frustrated trying to make some stupid long jump part and quit).

I play COD games with Shorty's kids. Only for the smack talk really. It's fun to give them a good thrashing without any real harm...

Honestly I find them too easy. (Except for that stupid long jump in Far cry - A long time Pet peeve for me in action game history. Still remember that SOB HELL jump from that arcade game Black Tiger in the early 90s and will not tolerate it in any game since lol)

The jumps took me ages to learn and still sometimes dont get it quite right. At the telecom place there is a diamond box on a roof, the only way up is to jump onto the box that lies next to a higher one, then up onto that, then (for some weird reason its best to set your sights then look UP before the jump) jump across to the box by the fence. Turn and back track slightly to the edge of the box by the fence, face the box by the roof and again looking up w and space together and you should make it. I did it last night, (again) and it took me 6 attempts!

There is another in the cliff village where you have to run forward and jump to clear the gap onto a wicker roof then another to reach the relevant roof. And another at the beginning of act two where you need to jump to the second wall 'peg' from the left, at the rear, to get onto the roof. at the railway in Act 1, there is a diamond box on a large circular rock, you need a hang glider for this one.

Another has you standing on a large rock behind a building where you also have to do a running jump, and another in Seleo where you have to climb the ladder leaning on the building, go to the near left hand corner and jump onto the parapet, then jump onto the wicker roof then onto a balcony.

    my thinking exactly
yes, but no game that I know of is played from the enemies point of view. and yes, I did inted to make them speak german. That was one thing that always bugged me about the Diary of Anne Frank movie, that there is this magical bubble around the attic that translated everything to English, and even the German soldiers RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR spoke english

In Star Wars Battlefront II, the campaign has you play as the Republic, which of course becomes the Empire, who of course lose in the end. And while I never did get past the Hoth level (don't even get me started!

), I did wonder how they handled the Endor level.

and hey, I may even have the Italians, and Japanese for campaigns as well!

the premise is to change history. the games that i have played which allow you to play as the axis are just basically offensive and defensive sides.

the premise is to play a war from the other point of view, to give people a new perspective.

(and if anyone is wondering, no, I will not feel bad about making this game. the German soldiers were not evil. they were just following orders)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Close_Combat:_A_Bridge_Too_Far

Close Combat is based on Operation Market Garden; most units in the game are based on those used in 1944, with the exception of a few which are only available in custom games.[3] The game may be played as either the Germans, or the Allies, the latter divided into the British, Americans, and Polish.[2] The game received mainly positive reviews.

I had to explain that to my mom when telling her about my idea. she said that I would fail epically if the player had to work in a concentration camp.

Most Germans did not know what exactly was happening in the concentration camps.

They knew the Jews were being rounded up, but they had no idea about the mass genocide

To end the game a lot of what the allies did was make Germans bury the bodies, you should see your players soldier and his squad absolutely dumbstruck when shown the camps, maybe even a few of them crying because they had no idea that what they were fighting for was so evil.

And also, for the ending you should have a small epilogue seen saying that after the events the soldier was recruited by the US as a foreign diplomat and advisor and he worked for the rest of his lives in the peace corps fighting to stop what he had seen.

It may be a tad corny or cliche, but its the kinda ending all of us wanna see.

    Mod Note:
I've edited your post by replacing the misuse of "Suicide" with "Genocide", although I'm sure there were a lot of unhappy people, broke, tired and probably just wanting a quick death at the time, if they were given a choice I'm pretty sure they would of wanted to live. I only edited this incase someone out there started along the lines of holocaust denial which would obviously put a crimp in an otherwise interesting Game theory thread - Stryder

To beat crysis in delta is argueably one of the hardest feets for any video game. It is seriously tough.

I barely beat it once and admittadly I died half a dozen times.

I still think they should do a game version of "Kelly's Heroes", of course you have Battlefiled:Bad Company with it's gold crates and the film "Three Kings", but the origin of the Military oddballs looting is centred around WWII.... Especially when the Germans realised they were going to lose, a lot of illgotten loot got transported to Switzerland for the escaping criminals.

It would be a kind of an interesting twist if you have the villianous squad intend to steal loot to escape as the battle was turning against them, to find the loot was taken from those incarcerate in concentration camps which in turn undermined their stomach for the theft but instead perhaps caused them to undermine the escape of an SS unit or something. Then having the freed prisoners grant them their stuff and send them on their merry way to Switzerland just before the allies turn up.

Or you can have them defect to the allies, and being sent in as spy and espionage to free the prisoners.

You could however I'm guessing Germans would prefer to have a game where they can honour the normal soldiers that fought, while they might not appreciate the kleptomaniac nature as see theft as being dishonourable, they might understand the eventual hardships of a losing situation the question of whether to fight to the death or just concentrate on survival. Of course to add the twist that they free prisoners or aid in the capture of war criminals while realising that theft would be dishonourable brings back a sense of honour to the situation. To have them run to the allies might make some feel that they would be traitorous and again dishonourable, so you'd have to somehow get them through the transition period without capitulating to a surrender and without being seen as an enemy.

Of course as I've said before this is really a taboo subject, it's not the holocaust that makes it so, or the evilness of a politically motivated party but the fact that the minority rulers (who ruled by the force of hand) dishonoured an entire people and those people have for decades lived in that shadow, That's where the hurt lays.

Incidentally it's even been difficult to locate the war graves of many fallen German's since some of the locations fell into Russian territory for many years. Going to visit a site isn't exactly going to have people ecstatically excited on your arrival considering the daemonization of the fallen, for both being apart of the oppositionary force in a foreign land and because of the evil minority that caused so many atrocities.

Of course to sing any praise, there would obviously be need of anecdote... perhaps a German soldier helping a women carry her possessions when the civilian populous in an area was moving away from the fighting, perhaps a soldier running to aid a victim of a shelling or sniper attack that themselves was just a civilian etc. Of course Germans of that period being tarred a stereotype the world probably views this as being impossible from a German infantryman of that period, I'm not one for completely buying the stereotype.

I lived in Germany for many a year and they are split into pro and anti. The pro german is friendly, helpful and tries to discuss in English when they realise your nationality. The anti try to thwart your every move, absolutely refuse to speak or 'understand' english and also refuse to answer when you speak in german to them. These are probably those who can be termed arrogant. Overall I loved the place and the people.
