WiTricity: http://www.witricity.com/ [ wireless electricity over air to power appliances ] Imagine a future where brain cancer becomes 75% or more because people overexpose themselves to radiation and on top of that transmit power over air. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I would hate such a day.
At this time the hypothesis that carefully managed electromagnetic radiation comprises a major health risk is barely respectable enough to not be dismissed as sheer crackpottery. The people who worry about it have just barely enough true scientific evidence to not be thrown out of the room. But your estimate of 75% is sheer crackpottery, not science. Please provide your source material, including the credentials and track records of the people who came up with that preposterous figure. Obviously there's bound to be a risk, but as a population we're quite happy to assume a risk that's down at the level of lightning (about 60 deaths per year in the USA). And we don't even get very excited about drunk driving (about 10,000). The only reason we're agitated about terrorism (an average of 300 deaths per year in this century) is that it comes with both a political and a religious component. Most people aren't really concerned about the health risk of smoking, which is greater than any of those. They just don't like the dirty air so they're happy to join Big Nanny's crusade against it. You'll have a really hard time talking people out of supporting the proliferation of cordless electric power. Imagine never having to dock your Blackberry or your iPod!
I'm guessing that the above is supposed to be an insult.. Why would our brains evolve because of a higher chance of brain tumors?
This study ought make anyone wary of having those damn things.... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18821198 To me the blood brain barrier is sacred and I won't put anything near my head that keeps it from functioning properly. We also have to remember that most studies have not looked at 1) the effects of mobile masts, which are now on apartment houses, day cares, etc. 2) what happens when you live in an apartment building with 7 or 8 wireless networks crossing your apartment 24/7 AND you use a mobile AND your work has a wireless set up AND your home has a wireless telephone. Lab studies rarely recreate anything like that. George Carlo, PhD, JD who was hired by the telecommunications industry to test the dangers decided that these networks were dangerous. He was then on the wrong end of a massive PR campaign by the industry. This is an industry with incredible power. They have a great deal of control over media and anyone who likes, for example, sellling advertising space. They also have tremedous influence on government. We only need to look at how long it took to actually hold cigarrette companies accountable for their products and to get past all their pseudo science - we are talking many decades - to have some caution about deciding what is really going on with a fairly new technology. These companies do not give a shit. They will do everything in their considerable power to shut down critics including scientists and journalists.
And here's more on the link between cell phones and brain cancer http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/e...b=pubmed&cmd=Search&term="Surgical neurology"[Jour]%20AND%20205[page]%20AND%202009[pdat]
how about your computer monitor that you stare into? but seriously they said the same EXACT things when the t.v was invented.
today even when a 90 year old dies people ask why. i say, because he\she was 90 years old. i have a bad headache right now.
take tylenol with water, it will go away. Also, go rest, stop watching sciforums. Lay down and sleep.
oh, well then it can't be harmful. Except it is http://articles.mercola.com/sites/a...tion-That-Cell-Phones-Cause-Brain-Tumors.aspx go to the top link at the bottom in blue. And people said the same things about cigarrettes being OK. Only after huge amounts of studies and many decades did doctors in general accept the danger.
The most damaging effects of cellphones are seen in long term users who start young.... http://www.scribd.com/doc/19664917/Science-Review-on-Cancer-Risks-and-Childrens-Health
