No More Cookies

As you may or may not have heard. Cookie Monster from Sesame Street no longer gorges on cookies and instead eats healthier foods. Parents are also encouraged to leave vegetables and juice out for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. This is supposed to encourage children to eat healthier foods. While I've never heard anyone contribute their bad eating habits to Santa Claus or Cookie Monster, my real question is: When do parents plan on taking the blame for letting their child develop bad eating habits? Or gasp...When does it become the kid' responsibility for letting themselves get fat? A coworker of mine said that parents of obese children should be put in jail for child neglect and to my suprise a lot of people agree with her. What's you're take on it?

Never usually because the parents have the bad eating habits to begin with and they never learned themselves what was good eating habits.

So why didn't us kids of the 70's, who grew up on cookie monster and seseme street, get so fat? Oh...I know...we actually went outside and played real life games, and rode bikes, and actually did physical activity. With 3 tv channels and no video games, that's all there was to do.

Kids are fat today, not because of cookie monster, but because of XBOX 360.

THIS is a total OUTRAGE!

The drama of the cookie peices flying about while screaming "ARAHARHA" was the climax of the entire program.

May I add that cookie is not trim and fit as monsters go..And his speach and grammar is terrible clearly from the fact that his teeth have long fallen out as well as his total lack of vitamins that aid brain development.

I mean, this is a learning program, is it not? Having a Cookie Monster that doesn't eat cookies is going to send the wrong message and confuse entire generations..They simply have no choice but to change his name. Perhaps Fruity Nutty Liberal Pussy Monster would be a better choice.

AND in this free country no one can stop me from yelling.

lmao. It just drives me crazy, no more Bert and Ernie, because they teach kids to be gay. No more cookies for cookie monster, no more cookies for Santa Claus. IT just seems like people are just looking for imaginary characters to blame for their kids terrible eating habits. Even though cookie monster never ate any cookies and just made a mess, if your kid started eating cookies like that everyday wouldn't you put a stop to it. Is it really so hard?

Anyway, try making sociaty afordable enough for one parent to actually stay home and look after the children. That might actually have REAL benifits like alowing good food (rather than take away) to be prepared, alowing the parent to get out the back and run around with the kid ect. This is the real cause of the obesity epidemic, over work and the high cost of living

 

There probably are different parties are at work between the ban on Bert and Ernie and Cookie Monster's new diet of fruits and veggies (but it must be hard to eat them with no teeth). And yes healthy food is expensive and yes parents may not have a lot of free time to spend with their kids, but if their kids end up morbidly obese, it isn't Cookie Monsters fault and it isn't Santa's fault. It's the parent's fault to a certain extent until it becomes the child's own fault. If you're 16 and choose to keep eating crappy foods, thats on you. I just hate this blame game people play.

Hell why is it that both parents working is not even enough to buy a house in sydney now? (something my partner and i were discussing the other day) with no other expences at all

 

No it isn't, anyone who leaves their toddler alone with no one to tell them that eating too many cookies and chips and soda is not healthy, should be in jail. Kids have care providers even if it isn't their parents. I know because I'm one of them. We don't let the kids eat whatever they want whenever they want and their parent shouldn't either.

Im sorry but the child care sector is a blight upon sociaty and the attude which alowed it to flurish is one of the main problems.

Sure, you could stick you kids into child care, great. How exactly does that fix the problem that a) no one has time to cook, b) that no one has the money to BUY healthy foods or the time to grow it themselves c) no one has the time to get out in the back yard and play cricket (subsitute sport of choice) with there children?

All the child care industry is is a patch the same as psyciatrics is becoming a patch. Not for "bad parenting" but rather for "bad sociaty"

Sesame street should be banned as it encourages bullying and racism. I'll never forget the poor black kid being taunted with "one of these things is not like the others".

It's especially bizarre because cookie monster's wild cravings for cookies were clearly portrayed as being "monstrous," and something that was being made fun of because it was silly. It's not like they were encouraging people to gorge on cookies, the message seemed to be exactly to opposite.

 

They are still making new Sesame Streets?

 

Are you kidding ? Why would they do that ? Inhabitants are being evicted as we speak. So there's no shortage of houses.
