note i spell checked you to English spelling of behavioural notice the u in it ? are you referring to the american society which has been weened on playing the victim so they can sue someone to make their millions and live like an egocentric narcissistic slug for the rest of their lives with people kissing their ass telling them how great they are just because they have lots of money ?
As far as I know it is organic not behavioural. If it was purely behavioural, ASers could simply unlearn their traits and be done with it.
[broken record] (I posted essentially the same thing the other day in some other thread.) I was "diagnosed" as kinda/sorta autistic way back in the late 70's before it was "cool." My appallingly antisocial behavior and other "curiosities" prompted counselors and a psychologist at my school to label me as something and the best they could come up with at the time was "slightly autistic" or "possibly autistic" or something of the sort; that I was verbal, lacked significant cognitive deficits, and excelled academically precluded the necessity for a more proper psychological assessment. In the 90's a psychiatrist diagnosed me with Asperger's Syndrome, of which I was completely ignorant--I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the same time, after countless inexplicable "episodes" (complex partial seizures), and I was a little more concerned about that. I prefer not to think terribly much about it (well, following a brief period during which i was obsessed with it) as there's not much one can do about it anyways. Moreover, I simply don't "get" most (allegedly) autistic people--like the guy who posted this SHIT: Anyhow, I took the silly little test too: Your Aspie score: 186 of 200 Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 18 of 200 You are very likely an Aspie Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Hi parmalee, I'm amazed you were diagnosed in the 70's! I grew up in the 80's and no one had a clue what was wrong with me. So, good score on the quiz, I think you should get some kind as aspie prize for that.
Psychosomatic pathologies and self-inflicted diseases are out of control as it is. Right now, the average American will read about this, roll their eyes, and go back to eating Cheetos and watching their Chinese-made TV, slowly destroying their health. They'll give their Caesarean-delivered kid a lead-poisoned Chinese toy to play with, and go feed the dog some poisoned Chinese dog food. Later on, they'll brush their teeth with poisoned Chinese tooth paste, then pop a Viagra so they can get it up for their aging, fat and sexually unappealing wife (which is the REAL reason why Viagra was invented) and after a few grunts and moans, they'll make a deposit... and then pop a couple of Ambiens so they can pass out. That's the American Way in the 21st century. The age of latchkey children, complacency, and repression. Is it any wonder that we've suddenly started hearing about weird shit like "restless leg syndrome..?" I think everyone in this country is so far into denial that our entire bodies are beginning to twitch out from a repressed BS overload. I'm waiting to hear about a "restless colon syndrome" next, where we all just spontaneously shit our pants in public and without any prior symptoms. Psychosomatic afflictions might become very entertaining in the near future, at the rate we're going.
No. Sildenafil (marketed by Pfizer as 'Viagra') was orginally developed as a drug for reducing pulmonary hypertension. It is still prescribed for this purpose.
I've been told that probably since before you even knew it. It's called a joke. Next... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Chinese hatred is an offense here you know? Just look at my warnings in my profile... Just thought I'd let you know. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I don't think he has Asperger's. He has OCD, as does his brother and mother. edit - oops, never mind. Repo Man already covered it.
Yeah, in the 70's it was quite uncommon for for people who were highly verbal and lacking notable cognitive impairment to be described as "autistic." I think I was rather an extreme case insofar as I had a propensity to throw (often violent) temper tantrums, had over-the-top sensory integrative issues, and evinced an utter incapacity to acknowledge the Other (well, as concerns human others). I often harbor suspicions that I'm not autistic, yet psychiatrists, neurologists, and persons who are quite familiar with autistic kids (friends who are teachers, for instance) consistently maintain that I am. I simply do not relate to many autistic people in most respects: that many autistic people relate to characters like Spock (ST) or Data (ST:TNG) strikes me as odd--I do not even remotely relate to those characters; as far as personality goes, I relate more to people like William Blake, Edgar Allen Poe, and Robert Calvert (late, of Hawkwind), for instance.
when I think of Apserger's I always think of Sheldon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMIxHaZzzJI&feature=channel
True. And to be honest, I think that I've just had a lot of experiences with people who, for some strange reason, were actually making an effort to seem more autistic--and they were informed largely by erroneous stereotyped perceptions of autism. Not surprisingly, I've encountered this more on the internet; in real life, the autistic people I've encountered correlate considerably less to these stereotypes.
LOL!!!!!!! I just had a good laugh at that. I want a nice, fashionable mental disorder too!! How about 'uncontrollable rage syndrome'? I pretty much have that anyway Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Dysentery can be kind of like that. All of a sudden, one just starts shitting and vomiting up a storm. I contracted dysentery long ago in India--I think I ate something that had been sitting around for a very lloonnnggg time in Darjeeling, although honestly I'm not sure what specifically I got it from--but for me the issue was more one of projectile vomiting than diarrhea. While staying in the dormitory of a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Bodh Gaya a couple of days later, I awoke in the middle of the night with the compulsion to vomit. I quickly made my way to the bathroom but couldn't locate the light switch, so I just aimed in the general direction of a large bucket I knew to be in the bathroom and let go. Afterwards, I turned on the light to discover that the bucket was nearly 8-10 feet from where I stood and not a single drop of the vomit landed outside of the bucket. I was rather impressed. Anyways, with dysentery and related problems, one simply can't hold it for man than a few seconds and must become very "resourceful." It sucked.
Wow, Parmalee, you can vomit with impressive accuracy. That's your mutant power! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
